In Memory of.....

I thought it might be nice to stasrt a thread in Memory of people we loved and sadly lost. I think it could be anyone, a family member, friends, neighbour, even a pet. Or why not even a movie star or famous person. I think it would be great to tell a story about that person and why you loved them so much or a memory to share with mylot. I would like to begin with my grandpa. His name was Kenneth Hanna. He was born 1923 and died in 1998. He was my bestfriend and mentor for life. The memory I would like to share is this.... My nan was a very stern lady. She was baking pies for easter one time, I think I was 6 years old. Nan wouldn't let me anywhere near her pies. Well, I was a little upset so I stormed off and outside. I always went to the barn and sat in front of the cows on the feed box when I was upset. I don't know why. I think I just like the quietness and the smell of the hay and the sounds of the cattle. About 10 minutes later poppy came walking into the barn, he always knew where to find me and he had a pumpkin pie with him. He just looked at me and we both ate it. He made me promise not to tell Nan because when her back was turned he took it so we could share it. Nan was mighty upset but poppy and I just laughed. We laughed about that for years.

Very good idea for a discussion! I have been fortunate to have not lost many people who have been close to me. The person closest to me that I lost was my great grandmother. She passed away in 1997, when I was 16. We were very close. She is actually the reason why I wanted to start researching my family tree. When I was little I would go spend the night at her house. My favorite thing to do at her house was to go through this box of old black and white pictures from the late 1800's to the early 1900's and have her tell me who the people were in these pictures. She was such a wonderful storyteller. I miss her very much everyday.

You are very lucky to have had the time to get to know your great grandmother! My great grandmother (the one alive when I was growing up) lived to be 101 years old but I was still only 11 years old when she passed away. Sadly I was too young to talk to this lady. But I've been told she was elegant and smart. The stories I bet she could have told! Thank you for sharing!

Pomeranian and Dashund (sp?). He had the longest legs. Actually when we first moved here I took Petey out on his leash and had the Sheriff and the Mayor stop by. They thought Petey was a baby deer. Boy were they surprised to find out he was a dog. :) Have a great day!! AT PEACE WITHIN

Thats cute, a baby deer? I bet you got a lot of looks and met a lot of nice people throughb Petey didn't you? We seem to be able to make friends through our animals I mean, I see so amny people just stop to pet a strangers dog and end up striking up a conversation. Pets are wonderful I think.

He was a very special dog. He had been my baby from the day he was born. It broke my heart when he passed away. I believe in my heart that I will see him again one day. I think all pets and animals in general are wonderful. We have a cat now, Morgana, who is very special to us and she is also very spoiled. :) Hopefully she will be around for a very long time. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

This was a very good idea for a discussion...I would like to add someone important... Lillie Black..my mother..she was my best friend and the only person in the world I felt understood me and the things I did..she supported me the entire 24 years I spent on this earth and this is the first year I spent without her..she was wise, intelligent, and the strongest person I ever knew and it hurts to go day by day knowing I can't talk to her...

Our moms are good like that. They seem to at some times be psychic, have a great shoulder to cry on, have pearls of wisdom that are so amazingly right, cook the best food, are some wonderful role models, make us laugh, give tissue when we cry, are usually very uncool and unhip but classicly "mom-ish" Scarlet, I'm sure you have tons of memories to keep in your heart.

In memorty of my best friend/mom. She passed away after a 5 year battle with terminal cancer 10 years ago. Family and friends were with her 24 hours a day till that fateful day when we all left for different reasons. She waited till she was all alone in the hospital to die as I felt she didn't want anyone to see her last moments on this earth. In memory also of my friend Al who was brutally murdered 24 years ago at the hands of a jealous friend of both us. May God be with them always. Thanks and God bless all lost ones throughout this world. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It is a sad thing to lose a family member or friend to an illness such as cancer. I have not lost someone close to me to this disease but it must be horrible. And even worse yet to have had a friend murdered! It is our hearts that keep the memories alive of the good times and the laughs my friend. As long as you carry these things with you those people will never be forgotten.
