What simple pleasures do you derive satisfaction from? For example, I can experience 1 hour of ineffable bliss just by people watching in a coffee house while nursing an expresso . A walk along the beach will produce similar results. How about you?

I live in Minnesota. I go to the Mall Of America for people watching as a simple pleasure for me. They actually have chartered flights that fly in just for a day of shopping etc for the passengars. The airport is right across the highway from the Mall Of America. I love to meet and chat with some of the foriegners that come just for the MOA excursion. The place is enormous so theres no end to the amount of people watching available there. I can spend the whole day there watching people. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I have never been to the Mall of America. I'd love to visit it sometime. It must be quite a site to behold! I never realized quite how popular a tourist destination it has become. It doesn't surprise me at all that you can spend a whole day there.

I love to do both of those when I can too Hart! I also love to sit outside when the weather is nice and get caught up in a good book that is bliss! Even though my kids can drive me to distraction I love to watch them sleep - I know that sounds weird but they look so peaceful and angelic as they sleep I could sit and watch them breath peacefully all night! xxx

Oh Hart sweety thank you for those very kind words! Would it spoil it if I said it is so much easier to remember how much I love them when they are sleeping? sorry = warped humour! xxx

Yes, reading is on my joy list too. It doesn't sound at all strange to me that you enjoy looking at your children when they're asleep. All the children of the world should have a mom as loving as you are.

I don't really like being in large crowds of people but I do agree that people watching, or watching the world go by is strangely hypnotic, especially if you can sit with your favourite drink, it's like you just sit and stare and the world is passing you by and you have the time to resolve your own thoughts and what have you. I also like watching nature, espcially at this time of year. I sat in the garden yesterday for about and hour and a half, threw some bread crumbs down and was quite surprised by the number of birs in the garden. I also like plane spotting!! I'm more into videoing and photography of them but I can do that for hours.

I agree with you about large crowds. They're very unsettling. That's great that you're able to see so many birds in your garden. It was nice of you to feed them. Birds are fascinating creatures, aren't they?

I tell you what, I am having the time of mylife today - we are in Memphis at championship Irish Dance competitions. The dances, the dresses, the Fiddles. I am so enjoying myself. It really elevates the soul being surrounded by so much joyful talent.

I enjoy lying on my bed, looking out the window, seeing the grass swaying in the breeze. It almost looks like waves of the ocean. It is very relaxing to me and it's what I do before I drift off to sleep every morning. Also seeing my boys playing together without fighting. Sometimes I hide where they can't see me and just watch them. That fills me with so much joy, it's almost indescribable.

Walking in the rain. There is something about walking in the rain that releases all stress and ill feeling i have about anything and anyone from my mind. Its almost as if im getting back in touch with the planet and feeling the rain on my skin is something i really enjoy.

Well, as Paul McCartney says, "you've never felt the rain, my friend, until you've felt it running down your back." I still haven't experienced that yet, but I should really give it a go sometime. Just throw caution to the wind (and my umbrella) and let the rain run down my back!
