10. Hot tempered, will fight about anything anytime and kick my dog regularly.
9. Most people are idiots and need to keep their mouths shut.
8. I can tolerate a few people but the rest need to go away or else.
7. People bore me and I don't mind letting them know that.
6. Not the most tactful person but I try to hold it in.
5. Even tempered most of the time until provoked, then watch out.
4. Tolerant with most people but roll my eyes a lot behind their backs.
3. People have to be pretty nasty to me before I get angry.
2. Even if provoked I can only look at them and laugh.
1. I love people and if someone hurts my feelings I just smile and politely walk away.
I used to be a 5 but as I've gotten older I've gotten more easy going so I'm currently a 3 I'd say.

Sadly, I'd have to say I'm between a 6 or 7 most of the time. I don't think I'll ever get down to a 3.

I come from a long line of hot headed Italians so 6 & 7 isnt' so bad from my point of view. At your age, that's about where I was too.

I think as we go thru life we change, sometimes a lot. Births, deaths, relationships, virtually anything can change how we react to others.

I am very even tempered and manage to maintain a constant and consistent 9.
I even checked with my wife and she only let me read the first two choices before she chose the best fit.

Actually there are no anger issues involved.
I don't kick the cat or anything like that, and am actually pretty mellow.
I just have a low tolerance for idiocy and stupidity.

We're a lot alike then. I too can be pushed back to my 5 or 6 days in certain situations. But generally I do my best to talk first and react second. Not a thing wrong with standing up for yourself when the situation dictates. Thanks for responding!

Your mom is a wise woman and absolutely correct. People will only treat you as bad as you allow them to.

I think I'm a 5, as I try to stay calm but when I loose it watch out. I don't consider myself an aggressive person, and I don't even like shouting at someone, I might even talk calmly wile someone shouts at me, but I am not made out of stone and can eventually shout back. I do sometimes get very nervous though as I'm a very nervous person and might start crying, I get so upset when that happens as I'm trying to fight back and it makes me feel real vulnerable.

That crying thing happens to a lot of people, even guys. I rarely cried during an altercation in my younger days but I'd always cry afterwards.. I hated the feeling of "losing it". I'd get too out of control sometimes and do or say things I'd really kick myself for later.
Nothing wrong with a 5, you're pretty even tempered. :D

I would say I am a 3. It really does take a lot to make me angry. Sometimes I have a little bit of 5 thrown in there but thats only if I am really upset.

Hey Terry, we all have our moments. We're the same age so if you're a 4-6 then you're doing pretty good. Take care.

Good for you! I'm working on it. Unfortunately I'm not the most tactful person but I'm getting better at keeping my mouth shut and thinking before I speak.

I really admire anyone who can be a #1. I don't know if I could ever get there. I get my feelings hurt very easily so words do bother me no matter how hard I try to block it out. I have gotten to the point though when someone attacks me verbally the first thing I try to think of is, something bad had to happened to this person to attack me for no reason. That tends to make me a little more sympathetic and understanding but I will still get defensive... but I'm working on it! LOL!

I am probably a 5 lately, if someone does something to make me angry then yes I will fight back. Where did you get this list?

Mmmm..this is interesting...cause I think I might be a blend of #9---hey, some people do rattle off nonsense, and #5---I usually don't like confrontations and will avoid them..ah, but if provoked then I'm ready!! LOL

I've gone between 7 and 1 in a matter of days. It really means how I want to resolve the problem and how much time I have. I'll normally walk away, if I don't see any chance of correcting the situation, but will keep mental note. If attacked again, I may move up, then I may not. But eventually, the person really lets their guard down and if I see it doing good, I'd back them up verbally. Normally, they are so confused by the confrontation, they'll shut up, think about the situation, and then apologize. So far, that approach works with the "10s" I've run into.

I used to be a bartender and I learned real fast that the biggest bullies will back down the fastest if you just stand up to them. They rely on intimidation and when they find someone who can't be intimidated, they get confused and nervous... then you've got 'em.

Lifetime 7, with frequent gusts to 8. More people suck than don't, so I have as little to do with most as I can manage while still functioning in society!
BTW, there should be a 10 and 10A, 10s don't kick the dog, 10As do. I have derived significant satisfaction once or twice in my life by laying a major beatdown on a 10A or two. Trust when I tell you, you just haven't had a beatdown until you've had one from an old softball d*y*ke! =o)

My question was aimed more toward day to day life. I originally wasn't going to put in the "kick my dog regularly" part. But in general I've found that most people who are hot tempered enough to be a 10 in their day to day life are very insecure bullies. Those kinds of people tend to be abusers of children and animals because they have little or no control of themselves. Lashing out at people or creatures weaker than themselves guarantees control and power. But put them up against someone equal or more powerful than themselves and they change their tune real fast. You can almost see them deflate and collapse in on themselves. Although I'm not an old softball d*y*ke!=o) I tended bar for years and dealt with a lot of drunk bikers in my time. I made a few understand that a 5'2" woman who knows how to defend herself CAN do some serious damage when pushed too far.
I think most of us can be pushed to our limits at times but to live day to day as a 10, yeesh! those people need serious help!
Thanks for responding!

Depending on the day, I can be anywhere from between a 1 and a 5. I consider myself a very tolerant person and most of the time I can let things slide, but there are occasions when I do lose allow my temper flare up.

This is an interesting poser. I'm No. 3. I am slow to anger. Usually when people say/do anything offensive or hurtful, I will try and analyse why the person acted this way, and refrain from reacting negatively if I can. I helps me understand them better.

I try to do the same thing more and more.. try to figure out why a person is reacting the way they are. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It's hard for me to think straight when I'm upset but if I can keep my cool I do much better.
