It was a nice day so I decided to do some gardening...

It's spring and that means gardening. I decided to get out and get rid of some of the weeds and grass that has invaded my heart shaped garden at the side of my yard. We lost a tree there in Hurrican Juan and at the time, instead of just seeding it with grass, we decided to plant flowers there and put stones around the edge. So each spring it's a race with the grass to keep it from taking over the garden. How come the grass grows best where it's not supposed to and not so good where it's supposed to? You may notice at the top of the garden there is some bare patches along the rocks, that's where I started my weeding and that is where I finished. I'm really sore and stiff from all the bending and hoeing. I can see that it's going to take me a couple of weekends before I get it at least done around the edges. The center part may be a bit more tricky because I'm not sure what's weeds and what's flowers in a lot of cases. After the little weeding adventure I took a long hot bath to soak my aching back and arthritic hands. It ain't easy being green.

I don't have a very green thumb, but I did do some gardening today. I have an area around one of my trees that really needed some work, so I bought some bags of top soil to put around it. I put some 4 x 4's around the tree, then filled the middle with the potting soil. I planted some flowers and hostas and watered it good. I'm anxious to see how it turns out!

That sounds like it will be great Bev, be sure to let us know how it turns out. I just love planning and planting a new bed.

I admire your gardening ability. My mom (long deceased now) had a 'very green thumb,' and I used to love all of the flowers, trees, and bushes. Unfortunately, I didn't inherit her talent in this area, but always enjoy viewing the handiwork of those who have this knack for growing things. I don't think I appreciated it to the full extent back then though, as I was quite young.
