Apparently Jordin Is "Too Fat"

Certain organizations, such as the National Action Against Obesity, is now claiming that Jordin is apparently some sort of poster child for diseases such as diabetes. I'm watching a Fox clip on youtube where Meme Roth comes out and states, "When I see I see Jordin what I see is diabetes, I see heart disease, I see high cholesterol..." Later on she starts to ramble how the latest American Idol winner is a so-called "vision of unhealth." Maybe it's just me, but I have always saw Jordin as a tall and curvy teenage girl. Even if she was somewhat chubby it doesn't mean she's suddenly some icon for various diseases. Not everyone who is overweight suffers from diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. I'm curious to know what she thinks about Ruben. Or any overweight stars in general. Or why it's deemed okay for a guy to be overweight, but it's a sin for a girl to even be curvy.

Are you serious? I think Jordin is a perfect weight. I love her size. I don't think she is even close to being obese. Whoever said that is crazy. And people wonder why we have teenagers starving theirself and going on crash diets. I swear... As for Ruben, he was on the big side and he was even in the hospital for his health due to his weight. But he has come a long ways and he has lost weight and has even went public about his struggle with weight. BUt Jordin, she isn't fat, not at all.

I am in shock, i have always been overweight and i have learned to deal with it basicly, there is nothing that i havent attempted to do to lose weight besides surgery. So when i hear that someone is stating that Jordin is obeses it apals me. She to me looks just right for her height and her age. And you are right not all obeses people suffer from all the illnessses i dont have any of them(knock on wood) and i know some thin people that suffer from high bloodpreasure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and even diabetes, so i dont know why all of a suddent that all of those illneses are placed on the fact that you are overweight. And it is so many times over looked when a man is overweight, there are alot if them out there, but you only ever see pictures of woman or girls in the magazines in the papers and for posters and things for illnesses. I think that they need to back up off jordin, ya know it is them kind of people that make healthy girls sick, after something like that is said then they try to become this ideal weight or less all the wrong ways.

I saw that video and I wanted to strangle that Roth person. She is a twit if she thinks Jordin is "fat". And to those that said she is "chubby" you are also wrong. Women are supposed to have fat on them. It is healthy and prepares you for being pregnant later on. I don't know what is wrong with our society that healthy women are accused of being "fat" because they aren't stick thin. Jordin is not overweight and is certainly not obese. As an "obese" person I am highly offended that she would even say that about a beautiful young girl. And then to say it was a travesty that she won--how awful. It always seems so easy for thin people to sit in judgment over "fat" people. We are accused of being lazy and sloppy and uncaring about ourselves which isn't true. And for the record I also DO NOT have diabetes or high blood pressure. My cholesterol was on the high side but so was my good cholesterol which the doctor said was very good.

I have actually heard that a lot of thin people have trouble getting pregnant. I'm just going to guess and say it has something to do with the fact that their bodies can't carry a baby at that weight.

I think Jordin looks like a healthy teenage girl. I think she looks normal compared to some of the girls and women in the music industry. They said the same things about Kelly Clarkson's weight and she wasn't fat either. I know Kelly has lost some weight, but she blames it on being on tour and never having time to eat. Kelly is a Texas girl and we like to eat. We love our steak and potatoes and Kelly has admitted that she loves her Chicken Fried Streak and isn't giving it up. I think these people need to lay off Jordin and let her be. It is this type of things that causes young girls to have eating disorders. It also sends the wrong message to other girls out there. And you are right, where was this person when Ruben won? Why does society look the other way when it's a man that is overweight, but comes down hard a women if she has even 5 extra pounds on her? That is so not right. That is why I like stars like Kelly Clarkson, America Ferrera and Sara Rameriz, women who are curvy and are not apologizing for it.

Media has screwed up standards. The fact that it seems to send out a message that women are merely eye-candy with impossible standards that they have to follow. But at the same time it is socially acceptable for a guy to be overweight. A girl is will be critized just for being a few pounds heavier then one-hundred pounds. She will be pull down just for being curvy, unlike her peers who still have the stick thin bodies. Yet they will turn a blind eye to the overweight guy walking by. People need to realize that just because they have a small body type that it does not automatically mean that everyone should. Being different should not be looked upon as a deadly sin. Or how about this: curvy =/= fat. Or that just because you're fat it doesn't mean you're this horrible person who lives on fast food. There are a lot of factors that go into your weight. Or that it is not that easy to lose weight.

Jordin is a bit chubby, but she is a large girl in general considering she is very tall as well. It seems to me that both Lakisha and Melinda are heavier than Jordin, so... why aren't they the poster children for something? Jordin doesn't seem like she has anything wrong with her at all. She's still pretty, and her fitness is nothing a little exercise couldn't fix, considering she doesn't have very far to go to get in shape. I doubt she has any health problems... I think that doctor or whoever should look for a different candidate.

She's probably only being attacked because she won American Idol unlike Melinda and Lakisha. Meme Roth probably would of already had a heart attack if someone of a heaver weight won. Of course, maybe she needs to learn that being chubby isn't always bad. Especially when the said person was active---football ring any bells?

The average woman is a size 12, not a size 0 Candid. I don't think Jordin is more than a size 14-16 maybe.

Ooh, I didn't know she played football. I guess I wasn't paying attention when that was said. Well, in that case, perhaps what some people are thinking is fat is actually muscle as well?

The problem is in todays society, is that even if a person is overwieght by a few pounds its "not healthy". I dont think jorden looked bad at all, and no its not fair to assume that all overwieght/obese people have these medical issues, i to am over wieght, and dont have any of these medical problems either. I have been overwieght all my life, and have heard harsh things as well. In my opinion every women is beatiful in her own way, personally i wouldnt want to be a toothpick with no curves. Curves are natural, and beautiful. Self esteem is a big issue with us women, and in my eyes, seeing heavy actors, singers etc. is good for us, becuase it shows that every women, can succeed in the light of hollywood.

What people seem to forget is that diet and family history also plays a big factor in diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. You can still be healthy, despite being a few pounds overweight. (Or vice versa.) Curves are beautiful. It is just sad that people assume that just because you have curves you are automatically considered to be "fat."

Jordin is just fine the way she is. She's healthy and active. I've been told that TV makes people appear 5 to 10 pounds heavier than they are, so Jordin may not be as heavy as she appears. I hope she doesn't lose weight and become pencil thin. I hope she remains as she is, healthy and happy.

That's ridiculous. I'm curious aswell to know what she thinks about overweight males/other overweight stars. Being a star, or celeb. doesn't mean you need to be supermodel thin.. Jordin Sparks is, in my opinion, absolutely beautiful and so talented for her age. She seems perfectly healthy, she's not your average singer's OR average 17 year old's weight/size, but she's still talented, she's still got the attitude and the personality. Why judge her by her weight/figure? Who Meme Roth thinks she is to judge people like that is beyond me.

Geezzz. I don't know what that person is talking about. In my opinion, Jordin has a very talented singer. Her voice is really great! This contest is about selecting a great talented singer and it is not about looks. If that person want to emphasize on looks instead of capabilities, he/she should create another contest such as "American Best Looks"

Jordin - Fat? Huh?
You're telling me they think this girl is too fat? She looks like a normal curvy teenaged girl to me! What is with this idea that all women should look like twelve-year-old girls their whole lives?I think it's totally ridiculous to say that Jordin is at risk for obesity-related health problems. For her frame, her weight is probably within normal limits. I know this because I'm told pretty much every day by people around me that I'm fat, and yet my doctor tells me that my weight is actually normal for my body type. I think it's better to take advice from your own doctor who knows your body than to take advice from these National Action Against Obesity people, personally.

I don't think Jordin is fat at all! I think she is really tall and "big" but fat, or any form of it, has NEVER crossed my mind when I see her. I think Jordin is very beautiful! I always thought she had a beautiful smile, and a very pretty face. It is very wrong of anyone to call her fat! She is not!

I think Jordin is a pretty teenager. I don't think she is overweight at all. She is curvy and average. I think the people that have said she is a poster child for unhealth need to give their heads a shake. What do these people want? I bet they also think someone like Kate Moss is unhealthy because she is so skinny. It is so stupid to try to group everyone together! Someone who is let's say 6 foot tall, let's say they should be 160 pounds, that wouldn't be healthy for someone who is 5 feet tall to weigh 160 pounds now would it? I think organizations like that are silly. And really who cares what they think? Jordin (although not my pick to win Idol I was Blake all the way) is a very talented and beautiful girl!

Did they really say she was not healthy? I think she is just a big young lady. I think if she loses a little weight, her body would look like Beyonce. She does not look like someone who will become skinny.

She used to play football! Just because someone is big does not mean they are unhealthy, some people are born and built to be that size, we are not all meant to be skinny and such...Jordin is very tall and looks like she was meant to be the size she is.

That is the most stupid thing I have heard. She should instead be put out there as a healthy girl. She is not that overweight and she IS only 17.. It is people like this that makes young teens get eating-disorders.

True. I think schools and parents need to teach their kids that not everyone has to be stick-thin to be heavy, popular, or well-liked.

I agree. I thought Jordin was great. So what if she's a bit chubby she's still a good singer.

Now that is really absurd. The organization certainly has not taken into consideration that Jordin was physically active (she used to play sports) and the fact that she's tall. And I don't think they even considered the consequences of their actions - a lot of people looks up on Jordin, and criticizing her weight will put in other people's mind that the only acceptable figure is size zero. And anything otherwise will subject them to condemnation on other people's eyes.

Whether Jordin is fat or not is debatable as this forum has shown but she's definitely not slim neither is she obese. However the most important thing is that one has to be healthy and fit whatever the body weight and size! Although the medical experts have evidence that obese people have a higher tendency to lead life with diseases some thin people are known to have similar risk. It is the fats that line our internal organs and blood vessels that count not the external appearance of our body. http://hypertension2.blogspot.com

that is terrible.. Jordin should be the poster child for healthy girls. Didn't they say at the first that she was into football in school? She's very beautiful and looks very healthy and even though she is a bit heavy she's very tall and can carry it very well. People should get a grip and admit that being super thin is not healthy and frankly, not that attractive.
