Mothers: what was giving birth like for you?

Was it better or worse than you expected? In my case I would say it was mostly better than expected.

I was induced, so labor was miserable but really not so bad. Recovery was rough. With my 2nd - induced again (stubborn boys!) muuuch better than expected! He was over a pound bigger than my first and came out soo much easier!!
