I was watching a moon mission program and I saw a fellow who's selling plots of land on the Moon! Can you believe it-- he's been selling basically worthless documents for $36 bucks for years, and has made over 3 million dollars doing it. Nobody ever told him he could, but nobody told him he couldn't! It's sort of like the "Buy a Star" program. I have one, a gift from a friend who thought it would be nice for my birthday. It's a little yellow star called "Mandy1". Hah! It's in Cygnus, pretty close to he black hole Oh, well.:) Want more info on buying a piece of the moon? It may not be available for long - perhaps by 2018, countries will be staking claims on the lunar surface. So check this out ASAP: http://www.lunarembassy.com/lunar/shops.lasso?-database=aa654s5677556pr&-layout=US$_pr9981_en&-response=index_e.lasso&-NoResultsError=index_e.lasso&-token.affindex=&-token.trackindex=1307140&-token.rn=22967103&-token.cs=US$&-token.rs29=33&-token.rscd=LE&-token.firstlogin=&-token.skip=&-show So what do you think of this guy and his wife? Are they ripping people off? There are other sites that sell all sorts of things, from Moons to planets, to stars. Would you buy this for a family member or relative?

3 million dollars!! whoa. talk about proof of that old saying "a fool is born every minute". ive always thought that the "buy a star" thing kind of cute and certianly a neat idea, to have a star named after you, but at the same time..its a bunch of bull right? i mean in the scrolls of star names that say..NASA has..there wont be one with you name listed right? i wonder how many ppl that bought those pieces of moon are really pissed off? or for that matter that WILL be pissed off when countries start laying claim to "their" land?!

I might buy it as a gag gift like AmbiePam mentioned but otherwise no. I wouldn't think it would be possible to buy a piece of land for the moon from just anyone. That it would have to be via the government or something similar. That would be like buying land on Mars. I doubt it would be worth the paper it is printed on. I could print out saying something like that but what good would it do? Not like I'll be alive when they go to try and populate the place.

No one really owns the moon so it is really a scam of sort. It is quite ingenious - sort of - like those people naming stars after those who can afford to pay for them. You are right that the moon is worthless in a sense but don't you agree that it is high and "mighty" and something that people would yearn to have? :P

Well as much as I'm an astronomy buff I wouldn't buy this..not even as a gag gift...but this guy seems to be getting away with it, doesn't he? How come he hasn't been caught yet, that's what I would like to know..No one has any kind of legitimate legal claim on the moon or any other planet

I think they are just kidding. But if it's true, oh no unbelievable. Are there any law that prevent them from doing this?

I bought it for my dad last year as a gag gift. I wonder if people who buy it really think it s legit? I mean, I never considered it to be real because that guy has no claim to the moon, so therefore he cannot sell pieces of it.
