Daughter joining Navy

My daughter, my one and only, signed up for the Navy recently for 6 years. She is married and has a 2 1/2 year old child. She signed up for 6 years, she says the family can go with her and live on a base. I keep telling her I think she is making a mistake, because she may end up with active duty, and away from her child, whom I think really needs her. I'm really upset, but she says it's for the best. I don't know, what do you think?

As a mother I can see why you are so upset. I agree the child needs his/her mother. One thing I have learned is we cannot stop our children from doing what they want to. Is your daughter married, if she goes to active duty who would take care of the baby? Is your daughter going into the Navey for financial reasons, or educational reasons or both? Good luck to you and our thoughts are with you.

She said she is going because she can get an education, and also financial reasons. She tells me her husband will watch her daughter, and then when she gets stationed, they will move and stay with her there. I just hope this all turns out good. It's a big worry to me! Thanks for commenting.
