When people are rude or offensive, post silly or offensive topics, when they post one word responses or discussions or when they post something completely irrelevant to the discussion -- after all there should be some sort of punishment for when people break the rules or try to make money by doing almost nothing, and if that's their star rating dropping, I think that's a small price to pay.

well i think this has happened to quite a few of us, I have been stuck on 94 now for well over a month, yet my work hasnt changed. I dont know what motivates some individuals to given negative ratings but i think i could xstop it happening. Either we could be told who has negatively marked our work or we could get rid of the negative button all together. Instead, I would like to see each user having to justify a negative rating in the same way we have to justify a report of site abuse. In my opinion, this would get rid of the problem of malitious negative ratings
blessed be

I haven't really given out a negative rating yet.
I only give positive rating or I just don't rate a response, if I find it incoherent or irrelevant to my discussion.
But if I were to give out one, I would probably do so if such response is offensive or flame-baiting, not because I do not agree with such.
If I do not agree with a response, I try to clarify such, since I think that's the right thing to do.
After all, a discussion, to my mind, is intended to clear things up to arrive at a better understanding of what's being discussed, in the first place.
So, I find it strange, too, why, like you, my rating dropped.

I'm grateful my rating is going up everyday I login. But of course, we're all supposed to negatively rate anyone ONLY when the content of the post is offensive.
I've only done this once so far, when a guy said something about my mother. His rating was 2 at the time, and after a few hours the post was deleted.
Some people certainly rates posts according to personal opinions though, and this is really wrong, even because discussions are supposed to be created to show different opinions of a specific subject, whatever it might be.
Good luck with your rating!

I don't rate any one negative. Either I rate possitive or do not rate at all. But since the negetive button is provided we can rate a discussion, reponse or comment negetive if the same is not in tune with the ethics of mylot. Any way I am not to rate anybdy negative.
Thank you phlamingo.
