Back in 1999 I had asked to have an epidural..They had the Doctor come in and asked me to bend forward and not move. I did so ...When the Dr went ahead I screamed that my back felt like it was going to bust. He said stay still which I did anyhow after 15 tires and me asking him to stop never even got it. I felt like this Doctor did not listen to my words when I asked him to stop after the second to third try. The Dr did call me at my home and apologized to me but I didn't feel that was enough. Has anyone had a doctor that just didn't listen??

Back in 2001, I had to have a c-section because my daughter grew so much in one week and also had gone back up, so they were concerned. The doctor was trying to do the spinal and couldn't find the right spot, she had me hunched over for over an hour in the end. I was really concerned about how long it was taking and probably after about half an hour I told her to stop and I would go under a general, she told me not to worry because she nearly had it, after a bit longer she still didn't have it, so I told her again and she replied the same. I asked a third time and she still wouldn't stop. Finally she got it and went through my spinal cord, which caused a heap of pain to go down my left leg. She then overdosed me with too much of the stuff, so instead of being numb from the stomach down, I was numb from the neck down, this caused my heart to stop and while they were trying to get me back, my baby's heart stopped. They managed to get me back, but there was nothing they could do for my baby girl. This doctor was from germany and she said in german oh my god I have killed the baby, she didn't realise that my husband understood some german. She never apologised, we had the option to sue, but decided that we couldn't go through that as it would go on for years and it wasn't going to bring her back. We told them to put the money towards in training to make sure this sort of mistake wouldn't happen again. I hope they did.

my heart just felt twinges of pain as i read your story. i am so sorry for your loss!! how sad it is!!! i would have sued just to make sure that other people knew about my story. it is amazing that some doctors are allowed to practice medicine.
i wish you and your family luck and many blessings!!!

My doctors ability to listen has me switching practices, which is a difficult decision to make. I'm glad you didn't suffer any major injuries...

i would have sued. that is insane...15 tries. that was probably more painful and aggrivating than the labor pains in the first place!!
he could have paralyzed you since he didnt seem to know what he was doing. and i think he was admitting to being wrong by apologizing. no dr calls at home to apologize.
something isnt right with him. i wouldve called the hospital and spoken with someone in charge and explained the situation. this dr can really screw someones life up with his malpractice.
well..i hope you are ok now and that all is well. dont let this one incident make it so that you are totally afraid of epidurals now. he is just a bad seed.

HI there and Thanks so much for your Response, You know I did file to do a malpractice, but here in Canada they wanted 5000.00 down, not to mention when I went to see other Doctors regarding this they gave me very ugly looks and felt I was going no where. It seemed like they were all sticking together. During the times of him trying my leg went numb and a few days being home the same thing happened but again being only 19 I didn't feel anyone cared =( .....Thank you again
Stacy!

i am sorry that you went thru all of that. i wish you and your baby lots of luck and health and happiness!!!

It's called battery when you refuse or withdraw consent and the care provider does the procedure against your will. I'm sorry you had to go through that.
