Are all friends are real?

If you say friend, does it mean he/she is a real friend? how can you determine if he/she is real? I was just wondering why people used to call each other a friend but when the other one is not around, the other one say something negative to his/her friend. Is this natural for friendship? can you give me your idea on this matter?

saying negative thoughts to a friend is normal provided that, that kind of thoughts can make him/her realized something not good and can bring him into a good person.
in my case, i can't afford seeing my friend continue living miserably with his/her wrongdoings without giving him/her some corrections advice but not to the point of provoking him/her or something that would only turn her/him bitter rather, give him some comments in love.

Yes, talking and telling your friend his/her bad side is a good thing for a friend because as human being, we are not perfect and always has our bad side but talking negative behind his/her back would not be okay. Thank you gracey for your response and welcome back...

Then you're not being a good friend..., but technically, yes, you can still call them friends. It's part of human nature to talk about other persons behind their backs. I guess it's just alright if you keep your discussion in a positive and constructive way.

Yes it is natural for human to talk behind others back, but to a real friend, i am not convince. If he/she is a real friend, he should not talk negative to his/her friend. True friend will not do that. thank you pelo for the response and hope to hear from you again...

in my opinion, u can call anybody as ur friend but u can't call somebody as true friend. true friends are real friends, they are the one whom u can count on in times of need. as the saying goes, "a friend in need is a friend indeed", meaning, a friend who helps when one is in trouble is a real friend.
anyway, it's good to be back here in mylot. hehehe
