Making friends?

What is the purpose of making friends? Is it an increase benefit to have friends in mylot?

i am new here.my first purpose to come here is to improve my enlish.you know.i have little chance to speak english in my work.but i like studying english.so,i wish to make friends here.

I don't really think so... don't understand what's the benefit of making friends either.
