I think it is safer to use a credit card on line on a reputable web site with a secure https:// page than it is in a cafe where the waiter can take the card out of your sight.
A good way to do it if you are really worried is to have another credit card just for the internet. Credit card companies are just falling over themselves to give you cards, the problem is to make them keep the card limit low so that you limit the amount that can be taken out fraudulently.
The card companies always seem to be adding another thousand onto my card limit whether I want it or not!

No I don't have a problem with it, but I agree with you, because I hear a lot of skeptisism from people that are very frightened to use cards online.
Though most victims of Credit card fraud that i've heard of are from people that don't even use the internet.

I will use my credit card online, so long as there is a secure connection. My card has fraud protection on it, so I just have to keep an eye on my statement for things I know I didn't buy so I can contest them if they show up. I do prefer to use paypal if it is available, because it adds another layer of security when using my card.
Also, if I become very paranoid, my credit card company has "virtual card numbers" I can use, too.

I only use my credit cards on certain sites that I know are secure. If you're careful, I don't see a reason to be paranoid.
