Why Not Use Technology to Stop Our Children Being kidnapped !

There is not a day goes by when children get kidnapped for one reason or another so why not tag them electronicaly so that we know where they are all the time. A device could be implanted in many items such as a watch, shoes or clothing or even implanted under the skin. Surely the cost is far cheaper than using all the resources in trying to find them after they have been taken. It would be a deterent knowing that the child can be traced quickly. How do you feel?

Do you think that a person who would kidnap a child is above using technology to find the implant and rip it out of the child?

A bit extreme to point that out but you do have a point. It is up to us to do at least SOMETHING rather tell everyone to keep an eye out on your child all the time.

Not as extreme as implanting the 73,258,205 kids in the United States with electronic devices because around 4440 a year are abducted by strangers... or 1 in 0.0006 chance. Yeah, I'll take my chances in keeping an eye on my kids.

It sounds great in theory but I see several problems with this. If one tags the clothes or jewelry the kidnappers would just remove it immeditely and throw it away. If it's under the skin, it is more then likely going to be in the same place on each child, and the bad guys would figure out a way to remove it not caring what damage it might do to the child. For it to work it would have to be in someplace that is not able to be removed and that would be invasive surgery. I don't picture that happening at all.

Of course they don't otherwise they wouldn't kidnap children. Those that do often don't care and they would remove any form of tracking that might be on the kid or anything that clearly marks who they are.

Yes it has been said that the childs clothes would (and have) been the first things that are got rid of as the bad people in this world have no scruples at at all.

I would agree with implanting a tag under their skin, maybe when they get to four or five years old, but often clothing shoes and the like are discarded by the kidnappers... an awful thing to think about, but true, I'm afraid. That happened with the one around here, a few years ago. The guy who kidnapped and murdered the little girl, threw her clothing and shoes out of his van, one item at a time and at different locations along his route. Sorry... a bit morbid but I'm trying to make a point here. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

People are saying that they would rip the technology out of the child but we have to find a way that would be a deterent to do that and give us time in finding out where they are as time is of the essense in finding out the location.

Sorry... didn't explain that very well... with a kinap case where the kidnapper is attempting to acquire payment.*

The best way to prevent kidnappings is to supervise the children and not leave them unattended. While tracking devices in clothes and such is fine, I have major problems with implants under the skin. That smacks too much of big brother. If we are going that route, why not just notch and tag their ear like we would do with livestock?

We all look before we cross the road but there are still thousands of us that get knocked down. Accidents happen as it is not a perfect world but something has to be done. Children are kidnapped right before your eyes out gardens and playparks can YOU combat that!

My son is already grown and on his own. He was not kidnapped because we never allowed the opportunity to present itself. We did not have to worry about where he was, because we always knew where he was. Prevention is always the best solution, especially these days.
