When did you start bringing your kids to the dentist? Do you take your child regularly to see the dentist? If your child has a bad tooth cavity and the dentist suggests to take it out even if the tooth is only temporary, do you agree to it? Is it okay for you to have your child sedated just to take the tooth away?

I have a bone condition and my teeth are terrible and I am only 26 years old. My son runs a risk of having bone and tooth issues so he does go to the dentist regularly. He began going when he was 3 years old. he goes in around every 6 months to have his teeth cleaned and a check up. So far he doesn't ahve any cavities, his teeth are coming in nice and straight and there is no issue what so ever, hopefully it wills tay that way.

Though I'm not married nor have kids yet but I think it is a wise thing to do is take one's kids regularly to tha dentist. That way you can make sure if you are taking enough care of his teeth. It saves a lot of pain later due to plague and other dental problems.Kids always have sweets and so it is very important to take care of their teeth.

I started taking both of my kids to the dentist when they turned 1 year old. I take them to a pediatric dentist and he is great!! My daughter has had cavities and she just had to have one tooth puuled, they gave her a shot in the mouth to numb the area so it wasn't too big of a deal. I would much rather take care of her baby teeth and make sure everything is okay rather than not take them and have their teeth get worse as they get older. Even the baby teeth should be taked care of becaause if there is a problem it can affect the big permanent teeth that come in later.

Did your daughter take the shot without any complains? My son did not like the shot and was complaining so the next time, the dentist recommended sedating him first. So when we came back, he was given the sedative. His mind was still alert but his body was not. He did not complain about the shot given to him. However, he bit the numb lip. I was not able to stop him because he was in a car seat at the back of the car. Now he has a wounded lip that is becoming like a mouth sore and it looks infected. My poor child! :(

She didn't habe any problems with it, I think I was more nervous about the whole thing than she was!! She didn't like her lip being numb but luckily she didn't bite it like your son, so sorry!! That is terrible!!

I started taking my children to the dentist when they turned 3 or soon after. I also keep them on a regular visits i have too the schools that they go to require up to date dentist visits and doctor visits. I am not sure about if i would have the tooth removed i suppose if it was bothering my child i would like giving him or her a toothach. But i also think that if you leave in a decaying tooth it is bad for your gums and it has a certain poison or something in it that can cause some problems with headachs and suck i am not real sure i was told that one reason i suffered from migrains was because i had some bad teeth. I would research it before making a definit no answere if it is something that you really dont want to have done, just in case it would be better to have it removed. Do they have to sedate a child i didnt think that any of their teeth had roots to where they had too if they were temporary teeth. Check to see if they can just use novacain and do it while your child is awake if the sedating is what bothers you the most. Good Luck

Usually the dentists advise to take off the decayed tooth as an infected milk tooth may also infect the permanant tooth bud which lies inside the bone cavity in a region somewhere below the decayed milk tooth. This is not visible. It is not necessary to sedate a child to get the tooth out..a simple anesthetic spray wud do as milk teeth dont have roots, they usually come off easily.

The dentist put an injected anesthesia to my kid when she extracted the tooth and my kid was not cooperative and complained because of the pain. So when she scheduled for the next visit, she suggested giving the medicine to sedate him. Someone was also wondering why my son was injected with the anesthesia because the tooth should come off easily.

I took my son when he turned 4 and my daughter when she was 3 1/2. My son was very shy and it just wouldn't have worked before he turned 4. He did have to have a cavity filled but he was very good and didn't cry. The dentist said sometimes if he drills a baby tooth very slowly he doesn't have to use any numbing shots. Neither of my children had to have a tooth pulled, so I don't really have any experience with the question of sedating them. I take my kids to the dentist every 6 months and they love to go.
