calling cards. - Do you use them?

Most my family is in Europe, South America, Africa.... stuck here in North America my best way to get in touch is either by computer or telephone.
I used to have a International plan with my phone company, but even with the plan, calling my family was still kind of expensive.
And then calling cards started to become more and more popular. I can talk to my family for hours with a $5 card. MOre than 3 times what I would be able to talk using the international plan from my phone company. This was exactly what I needed.
I can still talk to them through the computer in msn or with a voip like site that I use, but not all of them have computers and for those I use the calling cards and save a bundle.
What about you, do you use them at all?

My husband has family in Cuba. It is difficult to find a card that covers to Cuba and if you do, a $5 card gives you 3 minutes only. I have a plan with my phone company and we pay like $.85 to call direct from home. Just because of where we are calling, it ends up cheaper through my home phone. I have an AUnt in the Bahamas and call her with my plan for $.10 a minute so it works out okay. We have only gotten calling cards a few times and found out they weren't worth it for where we call. It can be good though for Mexicao, Canada, etc.

I used to use calling cards, but we are trying a bundled plan with our carrier. I think I will go back to calling cards, you have excellent control over your phone expenses when you use them, and they are rechargeable, so once you get used to the sets of numbers to dial in, you do not have to change.
