....where you were when John died?
I was in college asleep in my dorm and heard someone scream the news....I was so saddened to hear this. The Beatles were and continue to be one of my favorite bands. Their music was so diverse and they had the flexibility to change with the times....very creative!

I remember where I was and what I was doing when I found out that John Lennon had been shot and killed on Dec. 8, 1980. I lived in Oklahoma at the time, so NYC time was 2 hours ahead of us. On Monday Night Football that night, Howard Cosell interrupted the show and announced that John Lennon had been killed. I was 18 at the time, and John had just come out with his Double Fantasy album a couple of weeks before that. I had bought it, and was already learning all the words to the songs. I love that album. That album got me really started liking the Beatles, since I was too young to really enjoy good music when they were together. I was only 8 when they broke up. And John did not put an album out for 5 years or so, because he was spending time with his family in seclusion. Thank God they got that time with him. Because as soon as he came back out in the public eye, that guy killed him. John was just too famous, and had too many fanatical fans. And all those years ago, he had been admonished for saying that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. In a way, he was right. The Beatles, John in particular, were worshipped by too many people, including ones without morals and consciences. How sad it is that a man of such love and peace was gunned down like that right in front of his wife, and really the whole world. It really made a lot of people question just how safe this world is. Acts just like this has caused a lot of people to look over their shoulders and to always keep their eyes open for danger. Life will never be the same!
