Ice Cream....In a dish or in a cone?

Not the most thought provoking question but it's hot and I'm hungry! I really want an ice cream cone right now. But it made me think about how the only time I want it in a cone is when it's warm outside. I'll eat ice cream all year round but always from a bowl except in the summer.
So which way do you all prefer...in a bowl or in a cone? And what kind of cone, the regular cone or a waffle cone?
My favorite way is to have plain chocolate ice cream in a regular cone. No sprinkles, nuts, syrup or any topping at all....I think I'll have to run down to the corner to get one now!

Here is a picture of a waffle cone. They are usually thinner and crunchy in a hard way.

I'm not fond of the waffle cones either. I totally understand the "sit down" dessert...crazy but so worth it!

Bigger servings isn't a bad thing lol. I love it when the ice cream is just starting to melt so it's nice and creamy.

Ice cream. Makes your mouth water, doesnt it. And it isnt fair, i havent got any in the house. I hope you enjoyed yours. It all depends how i am feeling to what i prefer. I love icecream in a bowl with chocolate topping on it. But i also like it in a cone. I like mango or mint chip. Just a normal cone though for me.
Well, enjoy your ice cream, foxy. Hope it was yummy

I didn't have any in the house either. I'm glad it's summer now so all I have to do is run down to the corner whenever I want some fresh ice cream...I think that's a good thing anyway;) lol!

I am in a very small town, and everything closes up early so when i feel like ice cream at night and havent got any, there is nowhere to get any, which is very sad, and with all this talk of ice cream and the kids asking me for it, i have it written on my shopping list for tomorrow. Might try and get choc chip.

yup. the thrilling experience when the ice cream melts and melts down on the cone and you rush to get that melting ice cream by your tongue. hehe. sounds childish... but yup.. that is the thrilling part of ice cream in cones.

How interesting that you think it tastes best in winter! Most people seem to prefer it during the hot summer.

i always love chocolate or vanilla ice cream on a sugar waffle cone especially when walking in a park or in the mall. but when at home, i just eat ice cream in a glass, in a cup or in a bowl. with or without a cone, i love ice cream

Sometimes I can't decide between chocolate or vanilla so I just pile them both on top of each other whether I have a bowl or a cone.

You had to mention ice cream. My mouth is already watering. I too will go get myself one after this post. I could have ice cream all day long. I do have a sweet tooth, but am incredibly fond of ice creams in any flavor. My favorite is mango. I have got used to having it in a regular cone as I tend to eat out at ice-cream parlors. At home I eat it any which way as long as I get a substantial scoop of it.

You're the secong one to mention Mango! I had never even heard of it before this discusson. I think I'm going to get really used to eating it a lot now that I can get it within walking distance of my house.

I like to eat ice cream in cones,it does not matter which kind. It is easy to hold it , it does not melt quickly and it also gives a nice flavour in mouth after too sweet taste in the mouth due to ice creams.....I like nuts in the ice cream specially the green one. Now you made me hungry too.......lol

You have my permission to eat as much green ice cream as you want...I'm guessing you mean pistachio not mint?

I prefer a cone. I like the extra crunch that goes with it. I prefer the cone that has the flat bottom. I like it when the icecream seeps into those little squares at the bottom. I like the other cones too, but those are my favorite.

The little squares are the best! I don't even mind if the cone is mushy by that point.

I do not eat cones, I always order my ice cream in a small cup with nothing on it, If for some reason they do not have a cup I will spoon it out of the cone, I think cones are not that good tasting at all.

I love ice cream a whole lot! So I don't really have a particular favorite whether in a bowl or in a cone.. Just gimme chocolate ice cream, and I'll even eat it right out the palm of your hand! LOL.. If in a cone, I think I'll prefer a waffle cone. And I enjoy eating ice cream with lots and lots of nutss.. Nyumm.. Wow, this discussion is really making me crave for an ice cream! Too bad it's 5am back here in Malaysia!! :(

Don't worry about the time....since it's my fault you're craving ice cream I officially give you permission to eat it for breakfast today! :)

LOL. Great discussion! I love ICE CREAM...we take our boys ALL SUMMER long to get ice cream. We always get it in a cone of course. Winter time different story...we eat it in a bowl. My fav in a cone is just a plain ol' twist...yum. We will have to hull the troop down to get some ice cream this evening...hehe. In a bowl.....I like hard ice cream.....strawberry, mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, ect.

I haven't had soft serve in quite awhile. I get twists too when I do though. Cookie dough is another one I haven't had in awhile. Now I'm going to have a hard time decided which one to get next.

What is "a flake", I've never heard that before? I think ice cream tastes better from a shop no matter how you eat it.

I love the waffle cones. If I have a regular cone then I want vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate in that kind of cone. I'd rather have my ice cream in a cone then a bowl.

I love to serve ice cream in a cone for the kids. That way I can send them outside to eat it and not worry about dishes being left behind when they get distracted by the latest movement on the ground.
For myself, I much prefer a bowl. I like the taste out of a glass bowl better, I do not care for the taste of cones. however, if I use a cone it is much easier to portion control.

My little ones love the colored cones that come in pink, green, and brown. I wish they would make other colors though since no one ever wants the brown ones and my 4 year old doesn't like sharing "his" pink ones.
It is easy to get carried away filling up a bowl. Luckily I still have a few dessert bowls to help with that when I'm trying to be careful.
