My nine month old got his first teeth at 4 months, then he didnt get any more until a couple weeks ago, he started cutting two more, well one is out, the other I can see pretty well, and now I notice, he has two more coming through! No wonder he's been so unbareably fussy! Has this ever happend to your little ones? I knew from my first child, that they usually get their bottom ones, then a month later get thier tops, but he's getting all four on the top! The first two aren't even half way out yet, and some more are coming. His bottom gums are starting to look swollen as well, I don't think I can handle him getting 6 teeth in at the same time, that would be WAY too much! He's doing well considering his gums hurt so much. Of course we're giving him tylenol, and he's happily chewing on a teething biscuit right now, hopefully it'll ease the pain. ANyone else have some more teething advice? I've tried alot of things with him, but I think because there are so many, he's just bound to be miserable!

My son got his bottom 4 all at the same time and then a month later got his top 4 at the same time or vise versa any way he got 4 at a time each time, i definitly remember that and he got them at 5 months and 6 months. It was a nerve racking time. I just kept up with the tylenol and teething rings as well as teether bisquits. He also like chewing on a cold wt washcloth, and at night time becasue they seem to bother him the most i would put a little baby nighttime oragl on there to help him sleep. It sound like you have everything under control and all you have to do now is just wait it out and stay strong for him and just be there for him, that helps to to just hold them and confort them. Good Luck

wow, it's a lot more common then I thought! I've worked with kids a lot, and had only seen this once or twice, so i'm genuinely surprised that other children have done it too. Well, at least I know he'll be okay, it's just so hard when they are in pain and there really isn't anything you can do for them! I'm hoping he just sleeps most of the day, at least he won't be hurting if he does. thanks for the encouragement.

My son popped them out four and five at a time. He did not seem overly bothered by the pain. Of course, he never slept, anyway, so that was not new. Besides rubbing an infant strength topical pain reliever on, one of the things I would do is to take brand new wash cloths, wet them, then freeze them. The rough cold surface seemed to help the teeth come on through. You can buy a certain color, and only use it for this purpose, was them separately, if that suits you. My other solution for everything was to take my kids swimming. Distraction. It works.

wow, I hope that my son doing this once, is not any indication that he'll do it again. He is an overly fussy baby anyways, so the teething pain just does not help! I will try the washcloths, I think I recall that working well for my oldest. Yes, distraction is good, although it's still raining out, and he's easily distracted outdoors. hopefully the weather will cooperate tommorrow so we might have an easier time. Thanks!

Hope things are a little better now. We are not having rain, but sustained winds of over 35 mph. How about you guys? Thanks for the best response.

All babies are different when it comes to cutting teeth. My first child cut two at time and they were accompanied by constipation and then when the teeth broke through, she got diarrhea and a rash. My second was more typical. Just a little fussy and a mild fever that would only last a day. My third cut her first tooth at two months. Now that is unusual! My fourth cut his without a fuss. I never knew when he cut his teeth. I had a friend whose baby didn't get her first tooth until after she turned a year old. The best thing to do is watch your child for signs of teething. Numzit works ok but the best thing to do is give him something to chew on. My kids liked those water filled toys you can put in the fridge. The cool helped with the swelling and the pain. Motrin for babies is great. I recommend it. It lasts for a whole 8 hours for pain and any fever if they get one. Good for night time in that it helps the little one sleep better at night. I also gave my babies those Gerber baby biscuits. They don't break off so easily and it allows them to gum them for awhile before they disappear. They are those long cookie type of treats found in the baby food isle in your grocery store. I'm sorry that I didn't get to your post soon enough. But maybe this will help with future teeth?

My son absolutely loves those gerber teething biscuits. His teeth are taking forever to come in, when I posted this you could see all four coming through, they are almost all the way through now, but it's been awhile. I have just started using motrin on him, for some reason I thought he had to be one, but checked the bottle to find out I was wrong. (: (it's 6 months). I prefer motrin, because like you said, it lasts much longer. THanks for your thoughtful response! (;

My son cut his bottom two at 4 months. By a year he had 12 teeth. It seemed like every time I looked he was getting 2 more. His all came in even pairs. My daughter got her 1st tooth at 8 months, then another at 9 months. Then she didn't get aymore until she was 13 months. Her top teeth came in every other one so she looked really silly. She is getting the opposites now and up to 6 teeth at 15 months. She is miserable now too. Funny how kids can be so different.

it is amazing at how different they can be, even within the same family. They say that teething timelines are generally genetic, but both of my boys were so different, I don't buy it. (;
