My wife definitely will NOT!
Nope, noway, nohow, nowhen.
But i did find out that you can take a motorcycle "education" class for a weekend that people who own motorcycles take to get their permit. It costs 25 dollars. You don't have to have your own motorcycle, and you basically learn how to ride a motorcycle for a weekend. And my wife agreed to let me do THAT - because it's under controlled conditions!! :)
I'm excited...

I would let and have let my hubby buy a motorcycle. He has yet to get one that is road ready but i definitly would let him get one but on one condition we get one for myself too. I grew up around riding motorcycles, my dad had one and most all my uncles and my mom would ride with my dad and they would ride me around on them and bunji strap me to the back in case i fell asleep i had a bad habbit of that. And i know how to ride a dirt bike and could learn in no time to ride motor cycle so i would just want one for myself as well i am not a good passanger anymore no matter what the circumstaces is.

I've heard that every person who rides a bike has layed it down...what's your experience with that?

i was never on a bike that was layed over nor have i ever layed one over but only have experience riding dirtbike in a field. But i think that if you are not safe and have all the proper knowledge on riding then it is possible that you may lay it over. I would just say be careful and practice makes perfect.

My husband has no interest in them thank goodness. If he wanted one I'd try to talk him out of it but he is my husband not my child. If he wanted to get one I couldn't really stop him.
I agree with what has been said about people with children at home to raise and support. Motorcylcles should be left to people who don't have kids at home (or on the way) and people who's children are grown.
Just my opinion. Best wishes whatever you decide :)

I think they are fun too. I have only riden once around a city block with my brother in law. My hubby was furious. I had a good time but can't imagine riding at highway speeds on one.

thanks...i think a good compromise will be taking that riding class - that way i'm not out in the street getting slammed by cars, but i still get to ride a bit. :) always wanted to try....

Not so sure you are in a good situation where a spouse can tell you what to do. Seems like a partnership gone awry. I can get one anytime I want when I get some money saved up. I am responsible for myself and with the proper insurance it is all handled. Good luck with this and please take that class and prepare for ownership of a fine machine.

Thanks - it's not as bad as it I make it out to be by using "let" - my wife is very much a worrier, and if I got a motorcycle - that's all she would do - worry worry worry!!
especially since i worked in the ER and ICU for a couple of months and i saw a TON of accidents (which almmost made me even stop driving).
but thanks for your encouragement. :)

The thing that's scary about motorcycles though is that accidents happen and it doesn't matter how careful the motorcyclist is. We don't need education for the motorcycle drivers but for the people in cars who don't know how to drive when the motos are on the road. I would be very scared if my husband rode a motorcycle just for that reason.
