hi ...i was using my pc as usual...suddenly my d drive alone...a single partition ..stopped opening and when i double click on it, message pops up ..asking for format.....i had some important files in that partition...somebody please help....recover it...

Easiest solution is to try and do a system restore to a point before you started having problems with it.

that was a great idea man....but to my bad luck i have turned off the system restore to save some disk space.....thanks a lot man....but sorry

You may want to try the Microsoft web site. I have found some free software there that helped me out of problems before. Not this kind but others.
No gaurentee but it may have some answers. Unless you have a MAC they are they ones who wrote the operating system for that disk. Hope they can help.

I had a similar problem over the week-end. It was a virus, I thought. I started the computer from CD and disk and got to scandisk and that solved my problem.
I got into the bios first and changed to start with disk and then I could go an restoring. I took me all day but now it works again.

u can use a software i use to recover my files...n thats GETDATABACK ...its available in both ntfs n fat versions so get the one u require...its a nice software n i am satisfied using it...it recovered data from even formatted partitions...
