Mother's Lament

My Daughter is married
She's all grown up
No more can I hold her
And make things right
Her love and support comes
From someone else
This all happens now that I know her the best
She'll still be the same but different too
Will I still know her?
Are there things I'll be able to make better?
I truly hope so now that
My Daughter's married and all grown up

Ahhh, but you can and will continue and hold her and make things all better. When she needs a friend, she will have you. When she needs a shoulder, she will have you. You will not only know her but now have her family to know as she builds her life. You've taught her what life is about and this is only a time for her to try her wings. They never go far from the nest in heart!

You know I always knew this but on the day after her wedding the mother's heart says other things.
Thanx

Awwwww.... I understand. But honest, you haven't lost her at all. I know sometimes it seems that way, honest I do. I have a daughter graduating in 8 days from high school and going off to college and I keep remembering the day her tiny little hand grasped mine and smiled when she was born. Taking her home in a car seat, worrying that some idiot would hit us and take that beautiful, miraculous moment away. Funny, I finally realized that I didn't have to guard her every move and God would watch over us. I cannot imagine that wedding day of my 2 girls or even of my son ... so I can understand your slight mixed emotions. But honest... I promise she will never forget you! Even if it feels like it the day after the wedding. (((HUGS)))
