What do you think about the FCC dropping the code requirement?

Recently, the FCC dropped the 5 words per minute morse code test requirement for the General and Extra class licenses. Do you think this is a good or bad idea? I found it disappointing that they'd drop it for the extra class test. It's great that people can operate on the HF bands, but I think they should have made it mandatory for the extra. Too bad.
However, keep in mind that when nothing else gets out, good ol' cw will. So, what do you think?

Meh Industry Canada dropped the Morse Code testing years ago as well. Then again they also dropped the licensing fees for Amateur Radio years before they dropped the code requirement. Regardless of where you sit on the fence its a moot issue at this point. While you need the be able to hear a cw signal to decode it a PSK31 signal can be decoded when its so far into the noise floor that it can't even be heard.
