1 Penny stamps???? 50 to a pack????

Well, how many of you had to go out after the most recent raise in postal prices, and buy 1 cent stamps? We made the mistake of going after hours, and because we still had some of a booklet of 39 cent stamps left, had to buy one penny stamps. Okay, it's not a big deal that it only cost 50 cents. the big deal, is after we're done, we're going to be stuck with 39 one penny stamps. With that many left, we can't even be jerks and put all the one penny stamps on an envelope and make some poor clerk count them. Nope, to do that? we'd have to buy more one penny stamps. How about you? did you have to go out and buy them? or did you just sigh, and add two 39 cent stamps to one envelope?

I'm one of those silly ones that had to go and buy 2c stamps because I still have a new bundle of 39c stamps LOL. If I am sending it overseas then I use as many 39c stamps that I need to get it there.
Unfortunately my 4 year old son found my 2c stamps and put them all over the place, on my folders, on the wall, on his sticker book, on his toys and they can't be used anymore SO I'm still wondering whether its worth going all the way to the post office to buy more 2c stamps or just leaving it LOL

Ouch!!! I would be peeling those suckers off and using tape!!! LOL
I would hate to have to pay for those stamps again....even though it is not that much...they would still get more for the stamps you purchase and I just would not want to give the Post Office the satisfaction after them putting out the 1 cent stamps in the machine in 50 packs. ha ha

I'm right there with you both!! I figure if i gave my son the rest of them, i'd have been peeling them off irritating places too! I bought the fifty pack, and they say they're "collector's items." Yep, we're collecting them for the next time postal prices go up!! But i also didn't want to wait, and come back during the day to wait in line to buy a couple of 2 cent stamps. I don't even know if they sell those separately or if i'd have to have bought a whole pack of those, too! It's not about the 50 cents i had to drop. It's more the frustration of the whole thing. I remember going to the post office for my mom and buying 23 cent stamps!

I don't know if anyone pointed this out yet because your discussion comes via notification and myLot provides a link to respond...not view the entire discussion.
But, you will need to add two of the 1 cent stamps because it has risen to 41 cents for postage.
This is what made me upset.....
Why the heck are they selling 1 cent stamps in the vending machine instead of 2 cent stamps??? And 50 of them? Most people do not need that much! Why 50 in one package????
Yes, I am so glad you brought this up because I had to get some stamps in order to mail my mother's birthday card. But since it was one of those musical cards, I had to put on double the postage. Which means I had to put on two 39 cent stamps and FOUR 1 cent stamps!!! Six stamps on one envelope is ridiculous because they decided to put a 50 pack of 1 cent stamps in the stupid vending machine because that is all WalMart has!!!! *sigh*
OK, I feel a bit better about that now. Thanks for letting me vent about it. :)

LOL no, we did add two of the one penny stamps. I was just so irritated when i got home about it that i had to bring it up!! If there'd been enough left over i'd have put 41 of the little suckers on one envelope, LOL. Apparently my brother in law is in the same situation, so we'll send the rest to him. LOL pass around the one penny stamps!! I think it's just one more way for the post office to make money.

LOL yeah. i think i can accomodate you!! I'll have Leslie send them out with your book and movie, cause otherwise? I'm giving them to bugg to use as stickers!!! And with our luck? I'll find them stuck inside my shoes. And in the shower. And on the cat. And the dog. And the toilet. Oh, did i mention my forehead while i was sleeping?? Yeah, that's the future i'm envisioning. you can have them!!

Aw, sorry about your stamps issue! At the office we always carry all sorts of stamps, the dollar ones, the penny ones, we still have 39 cent ones too. We apply the penny ones to those instead of another 39 cent stamp since that's wasting too much. And the rest of the 1 cent stamps we store. We end up using them eventually.

I hope we do. I just thought it was funny when my wife walked out with a fifty pack of one cent stamps. I don't know that we'll use them until the next time they spike the stamp prices and we're left with a half book of the lower priced stamps. One more thing to toss in the desk drawer!!
