Aloe definitely can help. Aloe takes the sting out to begin with. Then work with a moisterizing lotion with a mix of aloe. You can buy lotions with a mix of both major moisturizers along with aloe. Unfortunately the only way to recover from sunburns quickly is if you heal quite quickly.

Wikipedia says: There is no immediate cure for sunburns, but the pain can be relieved by hydrating the skin. This is done by applying products containing aloe, aloe with Lidocane, or vitamin E.[9] Drinking fluids can aid in hydration, and eating high protein foods will assist tissue repair. Analgesics such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen can also reduce pain.[9] One method to treatment involves applying a clean washcloth soaked with cool milk like a cold compress, since the lactic acid will help reduce inflammation and the cool towel will soothe the pain.[citation needed] Blistered skin, with or without open sores, should heal on its own. As with any other open skin wound, it is best to avoid lotions or other directly applied ointments. However, antibacterial solutions and gauze can prevent skin infections. The best treatment for most sunburns is time. Given a few weeks, they will heal.[9] Overall, the most important aspect of sunburn care is to avoid the sun while healing, and to take precautions to prevent future burns. I like aloe myself. :)

Sunburns, regardless of what you do cannot be gotten over quickly. All you can do is try and relieve the pain. You can take a pain reliever with ibprofen in it, such as ibprofen itself or motrin. You can also get products that contain aloe and other items that will help the pain temporarily. There are even some products that can be placed in the fridge and when applied to the skin feel really great. Don't forget to stay hydrated, drink plenty of water!

If we got the sunburn, we would use the natural yoghurt which has been proved working well. Maybe it sounds disgusting, but it is worth of a try as it will soothe the pain less than 24 hours.

Slather on juice from an aloe vera leaf. Just cut off the tip and go. When the leaf juice dries up, just cut off another half-inch or so.
