do you think online dating website really works?

There are some stories that I already heard about chatting, or online dating.. one of that is my brothers' story.. he was just chatting and met his girlfriend (guess he's lucky..lol), his girlfriend is from London, and now they're in their 3rd year.. just wondering if it really works? though to my brother it did.. lol.. have you tried doing the online dating? or chatting around? I was just thinking why people would try to look for their half on the net.. though some reason would be financially unstable and looking for someone to help.. XD (it's basically true..! ^,^) This kind of relationship would take lots of trust, hope, distance, time, patience, quite hard eh.! lol.. So what do you think?
