Love for Animals and Vegetarianism

Do you think it's ok that people can love animals to death and be all for animal rights, but still eat animals? Why is that permissible? Do you think it's hypocritical?

I don't think its hypocritical. Humans are carnivores and need an ample supply of protein which is generally gotten from meat. Thats just our nature. Life preservation should take place over personal likes. Now, with education and careful meal planning, yes a vegetarian can survive and thrive, but the basic lesson is we are animals on the higher part of the food chain. You can't survive on love alone...to paraphrase a bit.
