You have been told that dormitory rooms at your university must be shared by two students. Would you rather have the university assign a student to share a room with you,or would you rather choose your own roommate?why?

I work in a dormitory as an assistant dean for 7 1/2 years and i met that situation like yours. In that college where i work for they allow you to choose your companion but sometimes its not. Its good in your school its only 2 of you in our school its 9-11 occupants. Its really fun and i experience that i have my roommates that are very funny and noisy. I change my room and have only 1 roommate. Its good but sometimes especially you cannot understand her way of living in that room you have trouble. But its just a matter of adjustment.

I also stayed in the dormitory when i was in highschool. We are 3 students sharing in 1 room, but i sleep at the other room at night without our dean's approval..heheheh..

ya in some hostles the accomidation is for two in a room and those really sukkk.I dont like that type of rooms as there is no privacy in such rooms and it also depends on the mentality of the partner in the room.We should face many problems if the roommate is not understandable.

I also like privacy but isn't it nice that you will meet another friend/s inside the dorm?..

I would rather choose my own roommate, but I do not have this right in our country.before entering university, our university has assigned roommates for us,what we can do is just sharing it with others.I shared my university with other five girls once, fortunately,we got along well with each other and we all became good friends.

My freshman year they assigned us roommates, but we had the option of requesting someone if we knew another incoming freshman. I think it's a good way to meet new people. It's really just one of those things that either works or it doesn't. But most schools offer a week part-way through the school year where you have the option of changing roommates. My freshman roommate wasn't great, but I got together with a girl that I barely knew my sophomore year, and now we're best friends.

honestly, if i've been given a chance, i would like to choose my own roommate. I have this bitter experience in first years's studies, where me and my roommate, we couldn't get along well. the reasons, shh..let it be a secret. maybe it's what they called, still young and naive. We have a lot of row. Though we tried to discuss to put an end to everything, nothing works. In the end, she ends up in transferring to other room.
during my third year, i was gladly to be put under the same room with a friend of mine whom i could trust and talk to, after several appeals made to the hostel's board. My third year was the best year.
Maybe, it's true what they say that, you should find friends which u r able to tolerate with though they r not in the same interests as urs.
