How to get refferals???

I try to get refferals in manny ways. I get plenty of hits to the sites that i advertise (see the ones on top of my profile) but they do not sign up, even if it's FREE.
I've been paid by these sites and i advertise that i've been paid, these are great sites. Can anyone tell me how to get refferals, not at a new site, i've got plenty of sites to advertise on.
What makes you want to join a site???

I also am not able to find some good active referrals till now. As of yet i have got 8 referrals, i dont know if its good or not. But, the worst part is that none of them is active on mylot. I dont know how to encourage them to do mylot.
I got all my referrals through orkut. I put my referrals id on as much community topics as much i could.

I give up trying to get referals, If I was good with the computer, I probaly could get a whole lot of referals. I hae over 100 of sites that I have gotten from being on here 9 mos, I just don't have the time.
