Do you keep letters from your old friend, crushes, lovers, and even from your childhood sweethearts?Later this morning I was cleaning my storage room when I saw a box with my old files and some note and papers, aside form the box I saw a box of shoe and when I opened it, I saw plenty of letters from my friends and others from my old crushes and schoolmates. I thought I was already lost and disposed all that stuff but luckly I found it. I was laughing when I read ll the letters hahaha... and I thought how fast is the time. How about you guys do you keep letters from the past

I never keep any letters for memory, rather I keep the person who wrote them in my brain memory forever. THis is my nature of remembering them always. But I maintain the photos took with my friends.

Yhea your right we can keep the person through our memories but we can't trust our minds sometimes we have to admit specially when we get older our memory are not that sharp when we are still young, thats why it is better to have things likes letters to remember them for ever.

I keep all of my old letters, notes, and pictures. Every once in awhile I get nostalgic and go through all of them.

Sure I do. More for nostalgia's sake than anything. :P I do clear my drawers at least once a year and I do throw away those that have no more value whatsoever to me.

yes i do keep those kind of letters! back when before the internet became one of the main means of communication, i used to write letters to my friends and receive letters from crushes and sweethearts, especially cards. i still keep them in a box, don't really look at them, unless i'm doing some decluttering and come across the box then i'd start to reminisce..hehe..

hehe. i always keep letters from my penfriends.when i was a child and studyed in middle school,i often made friends with someone who is far from my hometown, maybe live in shanghai, guilin, beijin and so on by letters.at that time, i couldn't offer to buy a computer and go to the net bar without.i remember that it was 5 yuan an hour in net bar.therefore i only could keep relationship by letter and keep in touch. i have many letters from my penfriends.but now none of them keep in touch with me because they haven't response to me for a long time. i don't know what happen with them. i guess that maybe they become more mature and forget me. anyway, sometimes i read the letters and find some funs.hehe.i realise that i was so cute and foolish at that time when i read the letters. thank you for your topic.thank you very much.it remaind me something wonderful memories in the past time.

I keep the letters I receive, specially from people who are very dear to me. I have a special place in my room where I keep those letters with. Whenever I feel bad, I just look for it to reminisce my past. This things makes me smile. I remember all my friends and crushes in school days. Until now, I still do it so that I can have some memories from the past.

I only received letters from my brother and from one of my friends, and sadly, I lost all of those letters - this means I never really kept it well. When I try to recall I really would think how it could have been nice if I kept all those letters and show all those letters to them (my brother and my pen friend) but I can no longer do anything. My only consolation now is that we no longer need to write letters to communicate because the new era have equipped us with better communication media. I still keep in touch with them through the net and through text. LOL

Ya I do keep letters of the past. Sometime I go through also whenever I am free say on monday but not frequently. Letters keep us updated of the past life. Though it has not much value addition in present life. But we come to know how the past was, how we were. I do not keep all other old things. I dispose them off timely, say at every Diwali Festival. During this festival time we Indian clean our all rooms of houses specially. White washing, painting ect is done. During this cleaning process, all old things are disposed off. I too do so. If I have left using anything like shoes, clothes etc I do not reuse. Once decided anything is waste that means for ever.

Lyn, very very interesting discussion! I have some very old letters written by my friends, crushes and schoolmates. I adore them. Although...at this point of time....they do not carry much value....even if those are destroyed....yet whenever I find time...I love to read and see those lovely letters and become nostalgic. deepak

Funny you should ask this question. I'm getting ready to move so trying to weed out some non-esentials as I'm moving to a smaller place. In a box I found cards and letters written to me from my grandparents who have all passed away - some of them were as far back as my 12th birthday (40 years ago). Yep I do tend to save.

Gosh....I do keep all my letter that I got from my penpals since as long as I can remembered. Normally after reading it, I will seal each letter in a transparant plastic and put the date on when I got those letters then put them all together in box so it won't get dirty nor ruined by the ages. For some lovely letters I will make a copy of it, that way I won't damaged the original letters. Sounds crazy but...up till now....I still have them all neatly each letters in a plastic.

I keep cards my husband gives me for valentine's day, or birthdays or anniversaries. And sometimes I keep cards my family gives me. I feel bad throwing them away, so I store them and before I know it i have TONS of cards all over the place. After a while I just throw them away.

Hi, lynboobsy11. I have the habbit of collect everything others present to me(of course, concluding letters ^_^). When I saw those letters, it reminded my happy memories with my friends, parents, etc. Letters? With the coming of computer, more and more people prefer e-mails than letters. Maybe after many years, the kids won't know what a letter is. I wish it won't happen. Letters make me feel closer to the writer and I like this kind of feelling. Have a happy day! :)
