Night terrors?

All three of my kids have had them now. My daughter (8 months old) woke up last night and 2 nights ago and 2 nights before that and, anyway, you get it. Well, she was screaming like someone was hurting her but she'd just been laying in her crib. She was screaming so loud and was totally inconsolable. Nothing I did was helping. I was rocking her and bouncing her and talking gently to her and doing everything I could think of but she still wouldn't stop screaming. She wouldn't eat, all she did was scream. Finally, after 45 minutes of screaming, she started to calm down and I got her back to sleep by feeding her. My sons had the same problem (they are now 7 and 5 years old), they would wake up screaming and nothing I'd do would calm them down. They still suffer from it occassionally. BUT, they never woke up as often as my daughter has with these horrible screams. I've tried everything I can think of to help calm her down or keep the terrors away but nothing is working. Does anyone have any ideas?

I dont know how to stop them sorry but have had the same problem with all my children, It can be very unsettling as a parent. My five year old woke from one just last night and I was asleep and it also scared me. If you do find an answer Id love also to here what to do. thankyou and goodluck

I have tried so many things, none has worked with my daughter but now that my sons are older some have worked for them. I made a sachet (a little pillow) and filled it with dried lavender flowers (they smell wonderful) and that has helped the boys stay asleep a little better. I also give them 1/2 a cup of chamomile tea at night before bed (with their bedtime snack) with a little bit of honey in it, and that helps them a little bit too. I don't know if it's the lavender and tea but before I did those things, they would wake up screaming at least 2 times a week, now, they only wake up about once a month or once every other month. Good luck!
