Best response

May 29, 2007 1:00pm CST
Right, I hope anyway that everyone uses the best response button adn uses it wisely. I must admit I have got a bit behind with selecting all mine but as the end of the month approaches I think I should get rid of them. I see many other people have been doing them too as I have been getting selected for a few of the older ones. Anyway, to the point....What happens if I decide I can't really be bothered with it all and just hit the first response for all of them. We don't know for a fact that there is any effect or peoples earnings for getting picked, you don't ever go and checck ones you have previously taken part into check that the best really is the best, I haven't seen anywhere that you can report bad best responses to admin. I suppose in life as well we all do things that we really aren't made to do but we take seriously as being a part of the community. So, what are you thoughts on this, should we be checking if best responses are in fact the best, do you htink it does reflect our earnings and do you really really select all yours. People would have to manually go through to check anyways.

Hmmm.. I think it does reflect on our earnings or else the option would be pretty irrelevant. I don't usually go back to check if the marked BR is really the best one, because everyone has different opinions and what may be best for me might not be for someone else. I do like to acknowledge those that took effort in their replies though, if I get one that is very lengthy and makes sense, it will probably go to that person and I'll rate the other good ones. Other times I give BR to those who make me laugh.. it really just depends on my mood! I'm quite glad there isn't a "report bad BR" option since people might be biased and think theirs is always the best. =)

But mine is always best. I would love to know why you are a five if your posts are like the one you just gave me. I started going through all mine and sorting them out but am glad that I have a few more days before the payments are all finalised as I really can't face doing anymore.

I don't know why I'm a 5. When I hit 100 a few days ago it was an 8, I went to sleep and woke up to a 5 and it's been there since. But I don't mind so much anymore, at least green happens to be my favorite color! Haha =P I just replied on another discussion that suggested that myLotters should wait a week before choosing a best response.. is that why you have many now to choose? That's probably the only reason why I wouldn't want to wait too long, then you have all these threads to get back to and knowing me I'll forget..lol. Any, good luck! :)

Yes I try to wait until I think everyone has had a fair shot at replying to my discussions with the time differences and peoples working week before I select one. I also get put off when I have lots of responses cos it is so difficult to pick one in particular. I'm getting there though and by the pay cut off on the last day of the month I will have them all resolved hopefully. And I love your lovely green star.

mylot guidelines say that BRs do effect the earnings of members so I am very particular about who I award them to. But if your going to just give to the first one that responds I guess that's up to you.

Not really anything anyone can do about it but they could get upset. I know I have one friend that always gives BR to the first person that responds no matter how good or bad the response is. I just started not responding to a lot of her discussions because I figured why waste my time giving a 'quality response' when a junk response got BR - there are plenty of other discussions to spend my time on.

You should just switch on your notify for her and get their first lol but I no why you aint. No sense of accomplishment in getting her BR's/ Ive got mine down to one page now. Slowely but surely!

i don't think that it increase earning , and i am kind of wondering from it but really if i be picked for the best response in a discussion i really do it from my heart I'd be happy , think of it like a game or test and u are the first , i don't know why is it there but some times it make u happy like a child .

Yes I do always go through them all and pick the one I think is best and if there isn't one that particularly stands out then it usually goes to the one that makes me laugh. I don't know if it affects our earnings or not but I think people just like the idea of getting a "best response" - it's like getting a gold star at school lol.

I don't know - never really thought about it. Maybe because I like passing judgement on others! I don't think myLot would care if we did it or not. There are a lot of people that don't do it anyway cos I quite often see old discussions with loads of responses and none of them are marked "best response". I must admit I do usually put it off until there's loads of them to mark and it really p1sses me off when a whole lot of them appear again because people's responses have been deleted. But if I really didn't like doing it or couldn't be bothered then I just wouldn't do it - as it is I don't really mind if I'm in the right mood.

But WHY do you do it? They can't throw you off if you dont and people probably would never notice if you didn't. Why conform?

I see what you mean. From what I've seen, rating responses does not really have an affect on one's earnings or reputation. I mean, you give someone best responses and see nothing added to their reputation, but others say that it does. I don't see how. I never saw my star rating go up or anyones after they get rated best response. In my opinion, all it does is encourage or motivates. I have been rated best response and it motivated me to want to post more. It would still be a good idea to give the best response anyway.

I chose BR almost haphazardly - if the response makes me laugh (whether it's short or long), if I feel like it answers exactly what I"m looking for, if it's honest and helps a bunch of people....but if I don't find anything that appeals to me, i don't pick. Also, if i'm too lazy, I don't pick. :)

A little bit of honesty Jack and much appreciated. I think its funny when someone posts a discussion saying do you always resolve and people come flooding in and saying yes! yes! I do! I think they think people are going to read it and rush to read their discussions!

Well, I have a lot of Older ones I need to go in and give Best Responses too. Just seem to never have enough time to do all of the things I need to do on here anymore. But I continue to Love this place and that is why I keep on coming back month after month.

It does effect your earnings when you recive one - atleast it feels like it =9 I usually also do all mine that are opld just before the end of the month =) Just so that some people that might be close to payout with my help (and other) might reach it =) I always choose the best one - and if I have 2 or 3, I usually take one, and remember the other one for the future =)

I've got a bit behind with giving out BR at the moment, just very short of time, but I like to wait at least 2 to 3 weeks before giving one out. I don't know if it affects earnings or not, but does make me feel good if I get a BR. I'm very busy at work at the moment and to tired when I get home to do much else but laze about.

I don't think it really reflects on our earnings, but it is a personal good feeling when someone selects you best response. I try to do best responses for my discussions, but sometimes there are too many responses and I don't have the energy to read back through everyone and decide. But I really try. I hate when I see people who mark best response to the first person who replies on their discussion. I see that a lot. But basically it is just more of a personal thing, because it feels good when you get a best response.

I do read my responses to my discussions and choose which one is the best. Sometimes it is a hard decision on those I read more than once and than decide. I think it is only right that we take the time to pick the one we think is the best. After all they have taken the time to respond. So I always choose the best response. I don't do it right away because I want to have a few responses to choose from. But I do choose one for each discussion that I have started.

Oh, my, you have opened my eyes. I didn't know I was supposed to decide on a best response to my discussions. Guess I will have to go back and redo things.
