Do you think I'm pretty?

I think it is for various reasons that these people post these types of discussions. I honestly don't think it is the people that are insecure that post them because after all, if you have a low self esteem and think you are flawed and ugly and fat and hairy etc.... you are not going to invite the general public to insult you more. I think these posts are created by people who think they are pretty, sexy, beautiful etc... and are narcisstic and want people to agree and add to their ego. Also, some people are apparently on here looking for more than friends and they might post a thread like that to see if there is someone that is interested.... Those are just my thoughts. Me personally, you will never see me asking people that crap. I know what I look like and as long as my boyfriend thinks I'm pretty and all that other stuff than who really cares what strangers think? It's blunt but true. It's nice to receive compliments but not when you ask for them. The best compliments are when you don't ask and don't expect, like my son was watching me brush my hair for work there the other day and he said "wow mommy you have pretty hair" that was unexpected and made me smile and almost cry coz it was precious....

i think it's silly as well. they do that on myspace too, and it's just these young girls looking for attention i think. "ooh all these people think i'm pretty, i am SO popular!". it's nonsense. it's cuz they have idols such as britney and paris to look up to...hmm. you wonder why some of these girls are so shallow these days.

I dislike those sites too and I am really sick of seeing discussions like this on mylot. Those people need to get a life! Why would they care if a bunch of strangers on the internet think they are pretty or not? Go out and make some friends or accomplish something if you need to boost your self esteem!

Haha I haven't noticed any of those converstations yet. I guess those people maybe have low self-esteem and are hoping for a confidence boost maybe?? lol I don't know. I'm not really too worried about what people online think about the way I look. I just like having discussions on actual topics! lol That's pretty funny though.

i agree with you i also dislike sites that rate you. I mean seriously why does anybody else need the aproval of the public to think that they are pretty or not. I too could careless what anyone thinks of my looks. it isnt my looks that i am here to show off or put out there,i am here to get information, to give any that i can and meet interesting people.

Gee, there are five mylot discussions at the bottom of this page that are along those lines. Or at least at this particular moment.

It's for attention, I'm sure. As for me, I could careless. I'm sure half the people on here that are involved in the rating game, lie... LOL!

Like you, I get pretty sick of seeing these. MyLot land is not a dating site, it's a discussion site. When I see all these *rate me I'm pretty* discussions I avoid them, and I cannot understand why they feel compelled to post them.

I done one of them but to be honest I don't think you should judge people just on seeing one or two of their discussions. People who know me at all on here will know that I done it in humour and was only having a laugh. I think sometimes people here don't realise that they speak and have a joke to mylot like they would a personal friend because they keep on seeing the same names again and again.

I have seen those discussions and they don't make sense to me as I would not classify them as discussions. I just ignore them and don't bother with posting anything as obviously they want people to say they are pretty.

Goodness gracious. I'm looking at the bottom of this page and I see what you mean. I hate those sites too because they don't do much for some people's self-esteem. There are people who post their pics on there expecting better results than they get and then some get better results than they deserve because they post revealing pics and the such. I tried one of those back in the younger days and got some good ratings, but that was like 7 years ago or something. I'd never do it again though. LOL

Probably are a lot of insecure women or other women trying to find a man here? Otherwise I could not explain such topics.
