If so and are working on a house, or think you may do so someday, I found a wonderful website community dedicated to help answer questions when you run into issues you're not sure about. My fiance and I are closing on home that needs restored in about 16 Days! I am sure we will make good use of the site. LOL www.oldhouseweb.com The pic is the one we're buying!

Hey, good for you! It is a big job but I am sure you are going to have a very memorable experience! Our house is alittle over 100 years old and has been in my husband's family since it was built. We have restored most of it back to the original, which mainly meant removing layers of paint, dry wall, and seeing examples of over 100 years of wallpaper, layer by layer! We have also, or rather I have, had the fun of restoing what was once a bautiful garden. I didn't do it precisely the same way it once was, as we have injected our own personalities into the house and garden, but we have always tried to remain sympathetic to the original nature. Good luck on your venture!

That is how we plan to do it ourselves. As back to original as we can. It'll be hard alright. Someone removed the original open staircase! They took it out and put it into one of their "better homes" I suppose. I can't believe your husband's family have been the only owners! THat's amazing and I give you Kudos for putting so much of your heart into it! Sounds like a lot of hard work, I look forward to it! 9 Days to go! I'm so E X C I T E D! THanks for sharing!

My husband is a full blown packrat, and it is a family trait. They needed to keep the old place so they could hoard all their junk, lol! Have fun with your venture. Are you going to be scouring the salvage and antique markets? That's half the fun!

You betcha! I can't believe how empty certain parts of our house look. Yet, in other parts of the house, it leaves me scratching my head as to how we managed to have so much crap in our last house. lol Thanks for all your comments! They are all so intelligent. Not one in particular, per se, but it comes across that I am posting back and forth with someone intelligent. And my babbling is increasingly evident that you are not as fortunate. LOL Just, nevermind!
