what's the weirdest, craziest thing that your parents told you and in which you believed in as a child? ever been told to stop running around after meal so that you wont get appendicitis, or maybe a dwarf is getting married when it both rains and sun shines at the same time? or even not to sing when cooking so you will be able to marry when you grow up? funny things in which you believed..

My mom used to tell us when it was thundering that the angels were having pillow fights. She also told us that every time we did something bad a small black dot would form on our heart and that once our heart was completely black we would die and not go to heaven. And then the thing about if we were still up at midnight the bogeyman would get us.

i actually have never heard of those before! thanks for sharing them.. although we share the same thing with the bogeyman.. parents would really think of anything to scare us if we dont go to bed early. and we believed them. who wouldnt be scared when told that we will be taken by a monster!

i really dont know where our parents got the idea of "bumbay" coming to get us whenever we are naughty! maybe the looks would scare us? or maybe theyd sell us thry 5-6? lol what do you think?

Lol I think it's just scare tactics. Probably because the bumbay loves selling things, so people told me that if I was naughty, the bumbay would get me and sell me too. I don't think that it's racist or something...or maybe that really happened before - a child was kidnapped by the bumbay and was sold as a slave during the pre-history of the Philippines. But that's just my speculation.

i guess they just use it as a means to scare us! this is not a racist.. but i guess its just how they look, with the long beard and all.. ;)

I remembered my mom telling me to finish my meal. If there are leftovers my future husband will have lots of blemishes or pimples on the face. As a child ofcourse you will believe in whatever they say. And now i find it very funny coz i know theres no scientific explanation or connection to what they are saying. But on the other hand, theres a positive effect becoz i would always finish my food while growing up. Its such a waste of money throwing leftovers right? well, i guess i will be passing this myth to my future children, very effective :)

lol.. also havent heard of this one when i was a kid.. my parents would just tell me to finish up my plate or else the grains will run away from our rice dispenser! funny thing but you're right its an effective way to let children show the importance of finishing up a meal and to never have any leftovers in a plate. thanks!

When I was a kid, I have always believed in Santa Claus. Then if you let the baloon fly in the sky, Jesus Christ will receive it. Hehehe. That's why I always write a letter and tie it with the balloon...

I had believed in pinocchio (did I spell it correctly?) that when you lie your nose would grow longer. it was good because I was afraid to lie, but I would have preferred they explained the genuine things that would happen if I lied instead of threatening me with that. happy mylotting and God bless.
