I love storytelling. Storytelling is an important part of our culture and has been since the beginning of time. In essence, my articles are storytelling. They tell you about the things that I enjoy or my passion for genealogy or even a quick review of a site you’ve yet to explore. So, I was more than a little curious about this site when I stumbled upon it. What does this site have to offer you ? Well it includes tips and tricks to become a better storyteller, a free newsletter and some very useful links. This site Creative Keys storytelling can be found here. http://www.creativekeys.net/StorytellingPower/sphome.html I would love for you to explore it with me. Are you ready? There are many articles listed on the front page. Just scroll down until you find them. If you are still wanting more to look at than what’s highlighted, simply look at the side menu and click the button Free Articles. This will quickly transform you away to the Free Articles section where you can enhance your craft or talent as a story teller. With great articles like “The Virtues of Storytelling with Simplicity, "Remember KISS," "Keep It Simple, Silly,” “A Treasure Trunk of Teller’s Tips” and a whole lot more, there is a ton of great advice. Some articles I really enjoyed were “How to become seriously involved in storytelling,” “A Beginner’s Guide to Story Telling – Not Only For Beginners,” and “A Tapestry of Storytellers’ Tips and Tricks.” and “Spirited Storyteller shares her passion”. They also offer a free newsletter called Portfolio Potpourri. I is an email newsletter and it is wonderful. If you sign up, you also get 10 free tips to "Enhance your Personal and Professional Style." With this great site, you’ll not only improve your storytelling, you’ll make it more enjoyable for you and your listeners. What a great talent to possess for those future generations. Tell wonderfully memorable stories that your friends and families will remember for a life time or write memorable tales to delight everyone! This wonderful site has many tips on helping you become all that you can be while writing and telling stories. I hope you enjoyed this site as much as I have. What was your favorite part of it? I love to read journals of the pioneers and the history of our country through the stories they wrote. They were so talented that I can almost feel what they are feeling and see what they are seeing, just through their stories. Do you enjoy storytelling? In a sense, isn’t that what we are doing here on gather? We tell stories. What are some of your stories that you love to hear over and over? Does your Grandfather tell stories of his life as a child or does your father? I would love to hear some of your stories.

Thank you as usual for sharing this with us. I think it would be good for us writers in our performance for pay. Perhaps it would add to our earnings to 'study' this information. Stories do run in familes and my old family had their share. I wish I had written them down as I heard them in my youth. thanks again for sharing this with us.

Thanks again Anne! I don't know where you find all these things but I really appreciate them. Honestly, I wouldn't know wher to begin when it comes to hearing stories (some good, some not) since I've heard so many over my lifetime from grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, etc... Ok, here's one that sounds so dumb you'll have to laugh. My father told me when he was about 17 years old, he tried to get a possum drunk with some moonshine. Of course, the possum bit him and he let it go. I asked him if he had been drinking, which he of course denied. I don't think he was lying about the getting a possum drunk part though. I think he really did try. He said it was some his father had around. Apparently, my dad had gotten into beforehand.

This is a great find. I am trying to write down stories of my family. When we get together we often tell stories of our loved ones who are not with us and it is interesting to see how different the perceptions of each of us changes the story. Even thought the basis of the story is still the same each person adds her or his own perception of the story. Thanks for this find.

That sounds like a good site. I will certainly visit and sign up for the newsletter. Those of us who like to write can probably all find some good information on a site like the one you've described. Thank you for sharing that link with the rest of us.

I am both a genealogist and scrapbooker. I have been combining them with storys about our ancestors. Recently we had a cousin reunion on my husbands side. After our meal, we went around the table and everyone told something thet remembered about their mutual grandparents. I took those things and combined them with the things I had learned from census records, newspaper accounts, etc. The scrapbook I came up with was made more interesting with all the pictures I had been able to round up from various relatives. At the next reunion, everyone had a chance to read it. One cousin's husband told me that he now feels he knows them even though they had never met. I have about 5 of these books completed and am now working on my dad. I just finished the story of his service in WW II in Europe. It was interesting and I learned a lot about the war. Story telling will help my children and their children know their ancestors.
