How much tape?

When wrapping gifts for people how much tape do you use? My oldest daughter started a tradition of sorts when she was 7 years old. She wrapped a Christmas gift for me and used 2 rolls of tape, It took me almost 30 minutes of trying before she finally let me get a pair of scissors. So ever since then we wrap at least one gift (birthday, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's day ect...) with so much tape you can't get into it without a long struggle but we don't allow cutting aides of any kind to help with the opening. (I know we are strange lol) So do you use a little tape, just enough to hold the paper together or do you use the whole roll for fun?

My wife uses rolls of tape, not for fun though, just bad at wrapping. I use just a little to keep the paper on, as I like to make them look all fancy with ribbons and bows (when i can be bothered!) I've also done the box in a box in a box thing a couple of times. I usually use a different box to disguise gifts at christmas too. I think I've used the box from the kitchen scales about four years running now! Another thing I've done (and plan to do again) is to make a treasure hunt with post it's to send her on a wild-goose-chase around the house to find her gift.

I've done the notes for a treasure hunt before. When we use to do the big Easter baskets and all I would start them out with a card that had criptic clue on it. One year it took the kids 5 hours to find their baskets, I had so much fun watching them lol.

I use as little as possible, I have a friend who uses a glue stick when possible so you never see the tape.

My mother usually uses too much tape which makes it near impossible to open up her presents, but I'm very careful with my tape usage, lol. I use three reasonable size bits of tape for each present as I don't want to waste tape.

Well at least you save money and at Christmas time that can be important. I always spend way too much on both gifts and tape lol.

I use whatever I have to, to keep the presents sealed. LOL I am a terrible wrapper. My presents all have too much paper, or not enough. They usually look like big blobs rather than boxes. I never got the hang of it! Sometimes I use up a whole roll after like 2-3 gifts. hahaha. Thats a funny story about your daughter! Sounds like my son. He uses ridiculous amounts of tape!

Mine use to look like blobs too, don't worry you'll get the hang of it, you have years of practice still ahead of you lol. I swear I need to invest in 3M or Scotch!

i have also done this. and have had this done to me. It is fun. We dont do it everytime but if there is a special girt that someone has been wanting and waiting for for a while then we do that to that gift. Otherwise i usualy use just enough. Another thing that we have done and is funny is put a small gift in abigger box then that into a bigger box and then that one into a bigger box until there is this huge box. The reciver thinks they are getting this huge present and as they get into it anf find another box and another until all they are left with is thier small gift. This is really funny and a good joke.

LOL, I am glad I am not the only one that does the itty bitty gift in like 10 boxes. I did this to hubby for his birthday last year. He didn't think it was very funny but I did, LMAO!

im like your daughter and use so much its unreal, my partner has actually stopped me on several occasions from wrapping presents and he hates it if i wrap any that is for him. when i was younger i used to wrap the presents up with about 5 layers of gift wrap as well as all the sellotape...it could be quiet funny when they thought they had finally got into the present only to find anouther and anouther layer of wrapping paper :-P
