Should a reality TV show offer a Kidney as reward?

May 29, 2007 4:37pm CST
A dutch TV channel is to show a new reality TV show in which a terminally ill woman chooses which of three people will receive her kidneys when she dies. What are your views on this? is it a good way of raising awareness of the importance of being a donor or is it simply a publicity stunt in bad taste? For more information look at the article in the link below. http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6699847.stm

Definately bad taste. It is like she is playing god. Nobody should have that right. There are waiting lists. People who have been waiting for a long time. It should be a first come first serve thing or to the first match on the list. Its not fair to those that wait or don't have much timeleft and here someone is making a mockery of it. Why would one person be worthy over anothet. It is like you are saying one person life is more valuable. That is just wrong on so many levels.

I totally agree with you...Nobody should have that right. It's selfish and immoral... and beside that she's as human as all of us no privilege no decision over the life of other peoples.

It's in very bad taste and the argument the programme producers are putting forward that it raises awareness about organ donation is nonsense. Whatever happened to documentaries? Our telly is pretty rubbish a lot of the time but I don't think even Channel 5 would air this programme - and THAT's saying something! Anyway it's good to see you back posting - I thought for a while we'd lost yet another sane person.

What the!!! That is so wrong!!! You don't make a reality show about a woman picking who gets her kidneys! That is just wrong! This is very distasteful and I hope the show is stopped before it goes on! Why would they take Reality TV that far?
