Warning about Hand Sanitizers

I received a warning about hand sanitizers in my email today. Ingesting hand sanitizers by small children can be very dangerous. It can raise their blood alcohol level and cause symptoms of being drunk. Some are 62% alcohol. Be sure to read the whole article at snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/sanitizer.asp

W2ow well I never knew that I always used to use them when I was working as I was in the car most of the Day so it was good to have something to clean my Hands with without needing Water

Gabs, adults are usually smart enough NOT to drink the hand sanitizer...LOL, and it sure is handy.

Gabs, you've got a good point...LOL. "Most adults" is probably what I should have said.

I had heard of this on a networking site I belong to and so I think duh!! We need to read the labels of things we use and ingest. Just prudent to be an aware citizen. Good thing to share here with the moms that participate here at Mylot. I hope it saves a few kids and their parents some heartache.

Wow, that would be horrible. Will be sure to check labels before buying. Thanks.

Just be sure to keep it out of reach of kids.

That's interesting. it should make more parents want to look and read what is in the sanatizer before buying them. Very interesting.

Yes I know. I checked this out in snopes when I got an email warning that kids/teens were actually drinking it to get high.

I always check with snopes on all the "warnings" I get in my email. Usually they're not true, but sometimes they are...like this one.

I already knew about that, but did you know that it will also light it up with a lighter, and it will burn and burn and burn, it is like the stuff they use for fondue pots or something, I found this out one night while working in a nursing home where the stuff is all over the place, i had a bottle in my pocket, was outside on a break, and decided to do a little experiment, put some on the concrete, got a lighter and tried to light it, it burst into flames and burned for a long, long time.
