I think you should check the local pound or sheltar first. And if those are to expensive for you maybe look in the news paper. But if you could save a sheltar dogs life that would be great.

They are REALLY expensive, especially dogs. Vet care, quality food, grooming bills, boarding fees or pet sitters while you are away, toys, treats, leashes, spot removers, bowls, replacements of doors or carpets that your dog or puppy ruins can all add up to a whole lot of money. I know the appeal of a dog runs high for most people, but honestly, the cost of the dog is just the beginning of a long and financially involved journey that will last the next 6-15 years. I own a dog and a cat, and I'll say that life with a cat, while more boring, was also much cheaper.
