I have read the book and watched the film ... oh and joined the forum. lol.
I think it is great, I am still new to it so I do not understand it fully. I do understand the power it has had already on my life though. Firstly keeping myself in that good place emotionaly all the time, as much as is possible, has had a great effect on my life and on my family. Being happy spreads like wild fire. I have made some goals for myself and I do think of them alot, but I am having trouble visulising them as they say you should. I just don't get the feelings that I should achieve.
Sorry just having a little ramble.
I think it works, on more than one level, postive thinking we definatly know works. Goal setting we know makes you work harder towards your goals. The rest I am still looking into.

The secret goes beyond just posetive thinking. The key is visualization and doing it with the conviction that this is how things are. If you say and think I can't do it then you won't. If you say and think I can do it then you can.
Similar techniques have been shown in Think and Grow Rich, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and so many other self help and financial books. The idea is that your mind doesn't know if it is thought or real. It will listen to what you say. Basically it is thinking the glass is half full not half empty. Focus on the good things and more good things will happen.
It is a good book to read and a good movie to watch.

I've not read the book, in fact this is the first I have heard about it. Where have I been? However, this sounds a little like a theory I heard years ago that when you actually write down your goals and state them publicly, then the universe begins to work to make that happen. We did that with some financial goals, wanting to paying off the house, cars and all credit cards, etc. and achieved those goals nine years ahead of our actual schedule we had set. As a result I have retired seven years early. I guess this isn't really discussing the book. Sorry. Anyhow, I may have to look up the book. It sounds interesting. Maybe I can apply it to my golf score, which isn't where I want it to be. LOL
