Do you have a cleft or know anyone who has one?

I would be interested in hearing from you if you have a cleft or know someone who has one. I was born with a cleft palate and not a cleft lip.
Did you know that clefts occupy the fourth place on the birth defects list? For every seven hundred babies born at least one will be born with a cleft. How would you react if you had a child that was born less than perfect?
Help me start a meaningful discussion on this subject--tell me about someone that you know who has experienced this.
Blessings!!
Linda

actually, my brother in law had a cleft palate. They ended up breaking his palate, which was a very painful process from what i heard, and then he was in different kind of prosthetics to help it heal in the right shape, and then he got braces. The whole thing sounded pretty painful, and it was several years before a dentist even diagnosed him! Now, if my son were born less than perfect? He'd still be perfect to me. If it were something like that that could be fixed, yes, i'd get it fixed. But if not, i'd love him no matter what.

Sorry, I'm late to the game but I just randomly typed cleft into the search engine curious if there was anyone else on here that happened to talk about them. My son who is eight was born with a cleft lip and not palate. He had what is known as a unilateral incomplete cleft lip. Cleft lips are genetic in my family. I know they are one of the most common birth defects but wasn't sure where they were on the list. My son had his lip repaired when he was 5 months old he has a mild scar now and hardly anyone knows he was born with one that didn't know him as a baby. I never once considered my son less than perfect to me he has always been and always be perfect just the way he is. He has always been beautiful in my eyes.
