Associated Content Nervousness

I've just submitted my first Associated Content review about "After The Catch", and I'm scratching like I've got fleas. (I scratch when I worry.)
Besides all the things that they expect you to do: site sources, submit websites, tell them if a photo is owned by someone else, blablabla...
then you have to make sure that your article is readable, spelled correctly and is grammatically correct.
I'm hoping that I did the right thing. I know my article was good, but I had to include a picture of the crew, and it's probably "owned" by the Discovery Channel. I told them where I got it, and hopefully they'll be able to obtain the rights to use it.
I submitted it for approval to be paid for; and gave them exclusive right to the article.
Dang, I have no idea if that's right.
I've heard that some people just publish and don't ask for pay, and that way they get seen before asking for payment on other articles, later.
Have you submitted to AC (Associated Content) and have you been paid for your articles?
Can one actually earn a living this way?
Will it give me enough exposure to earn a following that I can take to my blog, or to another website?
If you've got tips or suggestions, or just a kind word, do reply.

I have only been a member there for a couple of weeks, but I can tell you some stuff. My only piece that I have submitted so far is a piece on Golden Dawn (an esoteric group) that I did someplace else. I could only offer them non-exclusive (because it was online elsewhere), and they give me 3.56 for the rights. The upfront was promptly sent to my paypal account, so I do know that they actually do send money to writers.
Real quickly, the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive is as follows. Exclusive: it has never been published, and once you sell these rights, you can no longer publish the piece anywhere else--it becomes solely the property of AC. Non-exclusive: you can already have it published someplace else, and you can publish it again elsewhere. So in other words, Exclusive is First-Time All World Rights that you are handing over.

If they accept it, it'll be up in a week. Silly that it takes that long, but I'm sure they have a lot to read. ;)
I'd be glad to let you all know if and when it gets posted!

I have been a member of Associated Content since November. I have submitted 3 items that I have been paid for, and getting ready to submit a couple of other things there too. As for making a living online there, I have heard of a couple of people doing ok there earnings wise. I know it would take submitting a lot of work during the week to get paid a decent amount there, but to me it would be worth trying.
Good Luck with your Writing, and I hope you will be satisfied with this site.

I have gotten offers on the articles I have written for them, but if you don't, don't worry about it. You can always resubmit the article for free if they don't offer to pay you for it, or even edit it and resubmit it for payment again.
My highest paying offer so far was $5 so I wouldn't expect to make a living, but I am also new there, and some members claim to make much more.

Hey, you do a great job writing here, so don't worry about it ;) I was all excited when I found out about AC and was all ready to write... when I found out it was for Americans only -_-
Best of luck (not that I think you need it)!

You're kidding - not available anywhere but the US?! That totally sucks. I don't get it?! What's the difference if you pay an American or someone on the other end of the Pond? It's still the same thing - we're all here by wire, man!
THank you for your comments, Scammerwear. Flattery will get you everywhere, you know! *bat bat eyelashes*

Don't worry if they reject it you can always fix it and resubmit it. I know you earn more if you give only associated content the rights, but i like to keep my rights open so I can submit to others. I guess you could make a living out of it if you wrote like mad and did plenty of research and paid attention to the news.
