what does emo means?

I think being "emo" is unhealthy. They slash their wrists for almost no reason at all, get piercings everywhere, brood in a corner (or with their emo-friends) and listen to My Chemical Romance. Plus, their whole world is BLACK. Teenagers are the ones most likely to be "emo" because teens sometimes feel all these emotions that they don't know how to deal with (and they sometimes think that their problems are the heaviest in the world). I wish you wouldn't aspire to become "emo"... It's for your own good, seriously.

emo is a geny rock music.. Since it inception,emo come to describe several independent variations of music linked loosely but with common ancestry. "Emo is different for Emo People" Emo people are the type of people that always make their self as an emotional person. They are the people who is realy down to earth they are the person who always want to be alone.When you noticed their fasion their hair style cover the half of their face they are wearing black shirt symbolizing of their sad feelings. They like earings because they love to hurt theire self When it came to music now as you notice almost of their music is dedicated from their love ones..How they start and how they relationships end

Emo means emotional, but of late it means dark and depressing, wanting to cut oneself, wearing all black and nothing else but black, listening to depressing music. It's a watered-down version of Goth. No one like Emo, not even Emo likes Emo. Emo sucks.

hi there. hmm, i really dont know the exact meaning of emo but based on my classmates who are referring themselves as emo, they are those who like black and they are those who are "heartbroken" and always thinking about darkness, or something like that. i dont know if my definition is correct, if someone would like to correct me, just feel free. :)

i thought emo is the short form of emotional? i didnt noe it had a outlook too? i guess i have to be updated too... =)

Emo is being nonconformist and conformist at the same time: When you are emo, you refuse to conform with society and its norms. You want to have a different lifestyle, you stay away from people, and you endure your sufferings all by yourself. However, at the same time, you conform with the rest of the emo kids. You all listen to My Chemical Romance, wear black, and write poetry while holding a contest of who can cry the most--even if there's nothing to cry about.
