Pan's Labyrinth

it's a stunning film though. just beautiful. depends how old your children are though, not so much for the subtitles, but there are some really really nasty grim bits in there. torture and so on.

It's not that bad because it is in Spanish, it's fiction you know, they could use a 'language' nobody knows so don't see a problem. Just see it, it is by far the best fiction movie of last year, spanish or not.. You'll dig this one!

I see you like a lot of Movies, that is one of you intest. I haven't seen that Movie. I am not the one to watch Movies, every once in a while. I might go see something at the Movies, but when I go and get D.V.D's from the Library or Video Store I never get a chance to watch them, I might watch a little. somwething always seems to get in the way of it.

I bought the darn thing, and found out it was subtitles! BUT, it's not that bad, I found myself able to keep up with it with no problems. Now, it is a fairy tale, but it's an adult fairy tale. You may wish to watch the movie first, before the kids. Not just the bit of detailed gore, but the story it’s self. The ending of this movie is how you choose to see it, and it can be a bit too much for a child, IMO. I will say this without giving away any plot, it wasn't anything I expected it to be.

The movie is so visually stunning that after a while you don't even realize that you are reading the subtitles. It's a must see movie. I like to see them in their original form rather than the badly dubbed efforts that are put out

As far as I know, there is no dubbed version, so I don't see how the trailers could have decieved you unless they just had a narrator's voice-over instead of voice clips from the movie. Unless your children are good readers they would probably have trouble with the movie. You didn't say how old they are, but this definitely isn't a children's movie.

Yeah I just recently found that out myself! A woman wanted to return it at Walmart because she thought she bought the wrong version because of the trailers not once mentioned it was in Spanish! I'm with you on that too - I am less interested in seeing it now that I have to read subtitles. I watch movies that are subtitled on occasion but it's just not the same...

I was a bit upset when I received it from Netflix as well, since I was under the impression that it was in English. I was even more peeved to discover that there was no English dub over and that we were forced to read subtitles for the entire movie. While I agree that it was a visually stunning movie, I think having to read the subtitles took away from it.

THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME! lol. I went to Pans Labrynth in theatres. I thought is was in English because of the preview. So when subtitles popped up I was like "crap!" lol. But I must admit, it is a good movie. And I think you should still give it a go. I hate subtitles in movies too, but I still thought this one was good.

I had heard about this movie from Neil Gaiman's blog before normal people were able to go to the theater and see it. :) He had mentioned it being in Spanish because his teenage daughter didn't want to watch some parts, so he had to read her the subtitles. :) It is kind of gory in places, but not much worse than you get in a lot of action movies, and certainly a lot tamer than some horror movies! I think that if your kids don't mind the gore, they will probably get sucked in to the movie and not mind the subtitles. I know I didn't mind them, and I usually dislike having to "read" my movies. :)

I've actually never even heard of it but I may just have to check it out on netflix myself. I don't mind subtitled movies, mainly because I get a lot of martial arts movies that are in Chineese so I spend tons of time reading subtitles anyway. At least this way I won't have to read as much cause I'll understand most of it lol. I'll put it on my order list.
