I went to see the movie the night it came out. The next day I was talking to my friend who's mom also saw it. Her mom said that after ALL the credits there is one last very short scene! I was so upset that I missed it. She saw it yesterday and told me what it was. You aren't missing too much if you didn't see it, but I'm posting it because I feel kind of jipped. They should have done it as soon as the credits started!

Thank you for the heads up!!! I know X-Men 3 did this and a lot of people missed out on it and with that it was important. I wish they wouldn't do this because so many people are used to leaving once the credits begin. It's been ingrained into us and like you if I left and found out afterwards I'd feel jipped. I also know with X-men 3 some theaters cut it out thinking no one would realize and they'd have more time to clean.

My friend told me it wasn't very important and she descibed it to me. And she promised that when it comes out on DVD, she'll get on Netflix lol.

I think that's a modern way of doing things. It's kind of an appetite builder for the next film. I always watch the credits anyway, or at least, I sit through them.

i read in the newspaper that there is something to see after the ending credits. so when after watching the movie, i forced my friends to stay put and wait for it. thinking that it was something that would add to my delight. but you are very right, its something worth PASSING by! i wish i didnt stay that long and wait for it. i wouldnt care if orlando bloom goes to keira knightly regularly to visit her and their son. i would have preferred it was a scene on jack sparrow!

Between the map of the fountain of youth and the final scene, it is the beginning of the hype for a possible next Pirates movie.
The scene isn't needed for this movie and probably won't really be needed for the next, but it just makes you anticipate another movie more.
Who will be around for a 4th movie, will all the actors and characters be around. I hope that it doesn't keep Johnny Depp and the others locked up from other movies, I enjoy Johnny's work and it would be a shame to hold him up from other projects.

I think I started sitting until the end credits during the Pixar movies (Toy Story, Monster Inc.) because for sure there's gotta be something after the credits. And since Pirates is a Disney film, that's why they too have those scenes at the end. I really like these scenes because it builds up your anticipation for the next movie, or just in it for laughs (this applies for the PotC 2nd movie - the dog! lol!) And also, I don't think that last scene at the end of the credits doesn't mean anything. For some, it felt to them that the movie is open ended (and that another pirates movie is coming). For me, I think of it as closure to the movie. Whatever the reason, I find this fun...waiting and reading through all the credits to see what's in store at the end. ^___^

Yes, definetely stay til the end of the credits. The extra scene is well worth seeing and i think it's one of the sweetest scene in the whole film! It changes the film for me and makes me want another pirates film even more!!!
As for why having it right at the end - i think it's quite appropriate. The ending before the credits makes a very good ending of one thing and then the scene at the end is several years later, so it allows that time factor to come in better and it seperates itself better from the rest of the film, which is good.
Plus it means a film doesn't have lots of endings before the credits - like in lord of the rings which i wasn't as keen on!
Anyway if you stay til the end you get to listen to the fun pirates music and have a nice time of reflecting all thats gone on in the film!!!!

There are a lot of movies that do that now, and for this reason my friends and I usually stay until the end of the credits just because of that reason. I think the reason they do it after the credits is to get you to stay for the entire credits and see the names of their sponsors.
