Well the other day I was tkaing out the bins at work and to cut a long story short I cut my arm and ended up with 7 stitches - the real ones not butterfly!Anyway, I have found that when I am telling woman about it their face screws up i disgust and pain and men ask millions of questions to the point I offer them a peek and they always jump at it. They love to have a look at stuff like this. Obviously this is just a general observation and not true of every single person. So there is an image at the bottom of this...are you desperate to see or are you flinching already????????

I don't mind seeing it stitched up at all. I don't much like the open wound before it's sewn up but I'm actually ok in those situations. I've had my first aid training and blood and do forth doesn't bother me. It sure looks like it hurts though. I hope you are making sure you keep it really clean. Did you know I know how to take out stitches? It's a snap!

I really didn't want to see it but it doesn't look that bad after all :) Although I like horror movies but I'm a little squeamish in real life.. But you are really a brave girl and taking it nicely, some girls would cry about all of the time and think it's the end of their world.

Aye you should see it now. They started taking out the stitches and the thing started reopening so they lef tin the middle one and put paper stitches over the rest to keep it secured and I have to go on holiday with it even although it might get aggravated. I looked at it tonigth and its pure gaping and green. YUCk!! So now I need to find out if I just put antiseptic on it. I am going to ask the pharmacist tomorrow before I fly!

Why taking out the stitches too soon? I think it takes longer time to mend, you should use bees honey in it, actually it's better than any antiseptic or antibiotic to stop infections and heal faster. This is tried and confirmed home remedy so don't hesitate to try it. So where are you flying to? you should have fun with your holiday but if it's seaside be aware of the salty water, it can hurt a lot with an open wound.

I went to Holland. They can only keep in stitches for 7 days aparently cos after that it starts to get aggravated as the body treats them like a foreign object. Im back to the nurse tomorrow for her to see them and Im just hoping that it is okay. Its not sore anymore which is good.

It doesn't bother me to see anyones stitches. I would look without flinching. I used to work on the ambulance so things like that don't bother me. BTW, whoever did those stitches, did a nice job. That should heal very nicely.

I thought it was a lovely job too. When she first started she said 5 and then she decided on 7 and I am glad cos it means it looks tidier.

Stitches can be quit a topic of conversation, I remember years ago whe I got my appendix out, I had to show my stitches to everyone who visited. (Not my idea of fun at the time - I was only 11). Next time try not to argue with the bins, they always win.

I've backed down! Don't worry! I am not allowed to take them out anymore.

I am sorry to hear about it. Take care of the arm and give it full chance to heal at the earliest. I saw the photo; it is really sad that you have to suffer. I am not asking millions of questions; just one question only: are you giving full rest to the arm so that it heals up at the earliest? Take care and be good to your arm-this is our most important tool.

Ummm well it had a day or two of rest but I had to do a 12 hour shift the day after this happened. I go on holiday next week though!!!

Ok, first question: How? How did that happen? It doesn't look too severe, hope it doesn't hurt that much. I had four stitches in my nose one time, it hurt really bad. The worst part was watching them sew me up, it was really gross watching the needle go in an out.

LOL - I'm all women - flinched and would really rather not see it. If you needed help with cleaning or bandaging I would do it no problem but just to 'look' no thank you.
