You know when we move into a new house or redecorate our existing house, it takes us a lot of time thinking about what is best interior decorating that will suit our house. It will challenge our own creativity. What do you think about house interior decorating? Are your creative enough to do to do your own interior decorating, to suit your taste and budget or will you take the shortcut, hire an interior decorator?

I will be doing the decorating myself. We are in the process of buying a house and I know the first few years will be tight so I can't get so much stuff for the house. But I love to get a good bargain so probably I will look around for sales, garage sale or to the thrift store...there are good bargains in there. I would also like to buy some items like small furniture, repaint it and restore it.

Hello ladymoonstone143, what a coincidence. I too like to do my own decorating.I have bought a new house, a duplex. It will be ready by next year and hopefully I will be able to move in. But really, if I have the budget, I will definitely hire an interior decorator to do the decorating. Thanks for your response.

Id probbaly do both. Id hire an interior decorator for designing the angles and stuff of the house. But ultimately decisions will be mine in what furniture to buy, how to decorate using accessories, etc. An interior decorator certainly helps a lot but id want a personal touch in my house too.

Hello bindishah, we can feel satisfy if we do our own decorating and put in some personal touch in it. One has to be very creative to be able to do his/her own interior decorating. And I think you are one of them, too. Thanks for your response.

We aren't really too big on decorating our house. We like it really simple. The only pictures we have up in our living room are family pictures. We have some Nascar stuff up in our computer room, and when we move this summer, our son is going to have a Sesame Street room. We're doing that decorating ourselves, but it will be very easy to do.

I wish I had an eye for design and color. At the moment everything in our apartment is not color coordinated and a lot of items don't go nicely with each other but thats ok, I am happy with what we have. I have always been interested in interior design and love watching those HGTV design shows on tv. With my husband travelling a lot of the time, he is now bringing home artefacts and items for the apartment, which adds a lot of flavor and color to the apartment. I don't think I could ever afford to hire an interior decorator :)

We have been in our house for over a year now and I still haven't done my interior decorating because I can't make up my mind. I don't want to make holes in my walls until I am completely sure. LOL I cannot afford an interior decorator.

I am currently still living with my mom, but soon when i got my own home, i would love to decorate it on my own. Interior decorating is fun, you can express your personality tru color combinations and style, it seems fulfilling once you the product of your hardwork had perfectly done the way you had imagine it to be. I don't want to hire an interior decorator, i would love to make my own home to be my masterpiece of art. As of now, i am satisfied with reading other interior decorating books, clips, tips, and love to see different interior decorating magazine pics.

All interior decoration in our house is done by my wife and me. she has simple but great ideas. I help and assist her. She has special talent in selecting colors, flowers, carpets and pictures. we never hire an interior decorator, because there is not that much work and we don't have such money to pay for that.

ask some help from someone whom you know have a tastee with colours and on furnitures. well designing it yourself will reduce your cost and gives you a special thought that you have made it and it's personalized.

I love decorating my home. We are currently looking into buying our first house and I am so excited by the idea of being able to paint the walls and change things to suit y tastes. I think one of the most irritating things about renting is that you can't really make any major changes to your home, most landlords don't want the walls painted colors and even the ones that don't mind don't want to reimburse you for your paint and time so you are putting in all that effort just to move out later, and it ends up being a gift to your landlord or the next tenant and it just doesn't make sense financially to do it. I would never hire a designer, I am very picky about what I like, and I would never believe that a stanger could suit my tastes better than I could myself. I love bargain shopping and hope to find a small houe that's big enough to be comfortable but small enough that I can have really nice things in it without it costing an arm and a leg. It's a new trend that I saw on TV on a design show, I can't remember the phrase they used to describe it but it was something to the effect of "small scale decadence", you can spend the same amount of money on really nice things for in a small space as you would for lower quality thing for in a large space. I think it's a great idea.
