Sunday night I had a small bonfire in my backyard. I love fires & was bored. So I also took many photos of the fire. This shot is great as the seperation of the flame shows very clearly. It almost looks like a cnadle with the flame on top to me. We no longer have the fire ban due to a few days of rain falling. So I will be having a fire on the weekends more often now. Just wanted to share this is all. Have a great day/eveing all.

I am a korean and we have a traditional ceremony whick is called GI-bul-nol-e. I am sure those of you who love fires would enjoy it. We do this ceremony after harvest for the burning of the grass in the fields to improve the quality of the soil. We place wood chips and dried grass inside a can with long wire handles. We start a fire inside the can. and then we swing the can 360deg. and throw it into the field. I want to share with you these pictures.

So the cans of flames get tossed into the field? Now that's why I love myLot. One can learn so much about others cultures. Thanks for sharing this and the photo also. Very interesting.

I have one of those fire bowls and aren't they nice? You can build a fire safely and maintain it easily. I love to do those especially during the winter and fall months! Oh, I love to roast marshmallows and tell my daughters stories about my old days. She laughs and laughs...they are great memories. I will have to post some pictures when we do this again later in the year!

At first I didn't care for them either, I am used to living in the country where I could just build a fire up anywhere in the yard, and we did have frequent bonfires in the fall and winter months and it was great, but being that I live in a more confined space now, we have resorted to the fire pot hahaha!

Great pic of the flame, Grandpa Bob. But your fire is small compared to the ones we have. I just had a bonfire tonite being it's supposed to rain next few days and since I had a lot of cardboard boxes and sticks figured I would burn it now or it will be quite a while b4 it will dry out enough. Our major fires are a couple weeks after we either cut a tree down or trim a bunch of branches. That's when our neighbors come over so e1 can enjoy the infernal. We found out burning at night is better cause the one time we did during the day, it created such a huge smoke cloud that the fire department came over thinking a house was on fire. lol

The laws states the fire pit is to be no more than 36 inches in diameter. The flames are to not reach above 24 inches high. Now when I go to the farm we have 8 foot poles we stack teep[ee fashion. You want to talk about a bonfire. Hahahaha! I've had the Game warden out due to my enormous fires at the farm.

Yeah, I forgot your in town when I posted this comment. In town here it's the same for you. Has to be in a fire ring and can only be small fires. That's why I live in the country. Can do anything I please and not get in trouble. I was told by the fire captian that the next time I have such a huge fire during the day, to please let them know about it right b4 I let it rip so they know it's just me and not a house on fire. lol

Nice picture, Grandpa Bob! You must have a good camera to be able to get an action picture so clear like that. Also to shoot at night. We are still under a burn ban here in Florida. Barry bombed as far as bringing any significant amount of rain.

Hi, webeishere, we, in India, set bonfire only during winter. We used to keep things of all varities ready for burning during winter. It used to contain all sort of rubbish. Might be it would create health problem but people like to have bonfire with all the things come handy including car tires. It used to be very funny and give some sort of mental satisifation and happiness.

The burning of tires causes severe black smoke that
is dangerous to breathe in. very toxic. Fires give
me a refreshing mental break it seems.

it must be nice to relax by a bonfire.
we have a fire ban also due to dryness..it sure doesn't seem like it's rained much yet this year.

That is a cool photo, so are the others I saw. We had some rain today but I don't know if it was enough to lift our bans. We also love to burn outside, my husband got a barrel that we burn in now, it keeps it a little more contained, we still have to keep a close eye on it though. The kids, ours and our neighbors love to roast marshmallows in it too, we only burn leaves and tree branches so we let them (I've seen people burning trash, we don't, only branches and the like).

That is a great shot Grandpa Bob! I wish that they would let us have fires here but it always seems too windy. I guess that is the desert for you. I also wish that I took as good of pictures as you do, great job!

That is a very cool photo. It is so cool how things can be caught with cameras. I would have more fires outside but I am scared of them so can only have them when my husband is home. I like them....but from a distance. hehe

We have our fires in a chiminea. Hubby got it for me for Christmas, one year, and it is quite unique. He had a hard time hiding it until the day. We like to sit in a swing we have hung on an old swing set. The cats even enjoy being on the swing. Our problem is that we seldom are on the same shift, and so do not get out much together. Some day, some how, that will all change, and we can be pyromaniacs together.

Thats a great picture of the fire. Did you start that fire? I think you might be a fire bug! My nephew is a fire bug he loves to watch the flames of a fire. Which really scares me. I dont like anykind of a fire.

I love bonfires and the area of town I live in it is legal to have them, although we have not had one in awhile, I love it when we do, we just have had so much rain the past few weeks we can't dry out long enough to even consider a fire.

Ohh beautiful! i absolutely love fires! Unfortunately, when you are on oxygen, you can't really be around fire too much. Such a shame. i was always one to have candles lit in my room...so beautiful. i used to jsut watchthe flames dance and twirl and jump. i also love incense. They have a little spark and then all the lovely smoke that danced so beautifully. *sigh* Oh, how i miss them.
