It seems like Mother in laws are a big issue for girls. I dont know if they think they are competition or they are just having problems with the Mother In Laws being or trying to be controlling. I have a brother in law I cant stand. I get mad at myself for not liking him so much that I cant even be nice to him. I try to be . That is two faced though so I should just not be nice to him at all dont u think.?

I so wish that I had a mother-in-law. My husband has told me wonderful stories about his mother. I can tell by what a wonderful person he is that she was an awesome mother. She passed away before I met my husband. I did have the good fortune of knowing my husband's father for about 5 years before he passed away. He was an awesome person. As a father-in-law he was great....he was not intrusive, didn't give unsolicited advice and was always fun to be around!

Yeah I do. My cousin is marrying a girl that I can't like, I think she is a bit of a tramp and he is making a big mistake. We keep trying to give this girl chances but she always seems half way to being a psych. She's pregnant so we hope it's just hormones and when she has the baby things will get better.

Oh well Bless your heart at least you are giving her the benefit of the doubt. It could very well be hormones as you say. Hormones run rampant when you are pregnant. Good luck with her.

Look at you ONA!!! Seven Stars!
This is a good post because I have issues with mothers in particular, including my own.
Just two days ago I was talking to my boyfriend's mother. First she ridiculed my boyfriend, then when he was telling her about this music program we found at OAKS PARK at the Weiner dog races she said, (and 'mind you he's 50 years old this year) "Well, I wouldn't get my hopes up."
I have heard her put him down so much in a mother\child condecending manner that I just couldn't take it anymore. I stood up-without saying anything walked out to my car and left with the boyfriend. She was SCREEMING at the door, "WHAT DID I SAY WRONG!!!!" I was quit annoyed.
Anyway, all that to say, I have never gotten along with any mothers in law, or almost mothers in law. Personally, I think it's because I just won't take the game playing or the putdown\condescension from overbearing, can't-let-my son-go control freak mothers, especially this last one.
BUT she is giving us an $800 barbeque this weekend. NICE...

Gee Carly and you sound so easy to get along with. Your boyfriends Mother sounds like a very negative person if she is always putting him down.
That is nice she is giving you a 800 bbq. What kind of BBQ costs that much. Are you going to start a restraunt with it????

Maybe it was a $300 barbeque...I don't know! All I know is that it's larger than a $20 HIBACHI.

Now I don't know about your brother in law. Maybe it's that your 6th sense is telling you something about him. The female intuition is quite strong even if you aren't totally aware of it. I'm thinking this without knowing him or you all that much.
I've noticed the intuition thing with myself. I, generally, like 99.9% of the people I come in contact with so when an odd feeling comes up within me, I take particular notice of possible reasons why I am feeling oddly.
There is no reason why you should be two-faced about your brother in law. I would stay away from him as much as possible though and maybe mildly cordial?
